In the the bohemian-upscale South 1st Street neighborhood, very near South Congress Avenue, this beautifully-appointed, architect-designed home has modern furnishings and a serene outdoor space. The house is discreet from the street and very private, offering a restful, quiet and beautiful stay in the heart of Austin.
MAIN LIVING AREA:
The main living space - including the living area, dining area and kitchen - is loft-like, with 13-foot ceilings and a wall of glass that looks onto the back garden. Comfortable seating, chic accessories, and a large antique French harvest table surrounded by mid-century chairs, combined with great art, create a very comfortable juju. There's a cook’s kitchen with double ovens, a gas cooktop, and every cook’s tool you should need, along with ample dishes, glassware and serving pieces.
A sexy little media room is just off the main living space. Dark, rich colors contrast with the rest of the home and create a cozy space for screen time. The oiled walnut media center houses a badass TV with Goggle Fiber cable.
With a queen-size organic latex mattress, great bed linens, and the overall feel of a chic hotel room, the master suite has everything you need. A large, private master bathroom with lots of natural light (yet still very private), a super-spacious shower, and double sinks rounds out the deal. Two master closets allow enough space for your luggage and clothing for up to two weeks. There’s a TV with full cable.
At the opposite end of the house, the second bedroom is very private with an antique double bed, eclectic art installation, and a keyboard if you are into that type of thing. The linens are awesome. The guest bath is just outside the door, in the hallway, and feels quite private, with a bath/shower combo, more art, and natural light.
FACILITIES & PARKING:
There is an efficient laundry room, just off the galley kitchen, with a full-size stacked washer/dryer. The well-organized pantry is on its other end. The house has everything you need. There is off-street parking for up to two cars, and ample street parking.
From the first step off the street, this is an organic garden. We try to work with Mother Nature a bit, so it doesn’t always look perfectly manicured - especially when it comes to Live Oak leaves, which fall constantly here in Austin. The front garden has multiple levels and planting areas, often including edible/vegetable plantings. The back courtyard garden focuses on a modern fish pond/fountain with a beautiful patina.
The house is just off South 1st St and US290/TX71/Ben White Blvd, on a quiet street with very little through-traffic.
Everything except the garage is accessible.
Owner will personally check you in and out and will be available for any questions or requests that may come up, but will not be present at all during your stay.
This is a private home and not a vacation property and is furnished with collections and things amassed over many years. Hence, this is not a party house, but a quiet, private refuge.
