Andrew's flat is a seven minute walk away from Edinburgh Waverley and only about a fifteen minute walk away from Prince's Street. While I've noticed other reviewers describe their experience as being more like staying at a mate's house than an Airbnb, I really liked that aspect as the flat had a lot of character and didn't feel too bare. When I arrived the heating was on which was a nice touch and the L shaped sofa and bed are both very comfortable. In summary, if you don't mind the extra personal effects, Andy's flat is the perfect place for couples or solo travellers looking for somewhere cosy to stay within close distance of Waverley station.
I recommend staying at Andrew's place for anyone who's looking for a great location in Edinburgh. As others have noted, this is his home and it's lived in, so you can't have hotel expectations of this airbnb. As with most UK lowrise buildings, there isn't an elevator to get to the third floor, so it's not for everyone. The flat is one street over from the Royal Mile, and it's a very quiet street while still being very close to shops and the train station, Palace of Holyroodhouse, the National Monument. Communicating with Andrew was very easy and he was responsive to my inquiries. The place still needs a good cleaning and unfortunately we had some technical difficulties with the wifi about halfway through our stay. I didn't read any other reviews with this issue so it seems like we just had bad luck on that. I'd stay there again.
