Even while not being in the country at the time of my stay, Rea made sure I got to the place and gave me a warm welcome. Her co-host, Jenna, was also really welcoming and accommodating even when we changed our check-in time to an earlier time, it really is flexible. This was a great price for an entire house/apt all to ourselves. Definitely worth the money. I loved the post-it notes Rea left around the apartment as well! The couch was comfortable for me to sleep on. Wifi wasn't slow. After a week staying there it started to feel like my home as well haha. As for the surrounding area, it takes about 14 minutes to walk to the subway depending on how slow you walk. Then the subway is like a 30-40 minute ride to Manhattan depending on if you take the 7 local or express and which stop you go to. But for the price of the Airbnb the commute was worth it. Flushing is definitely a China town, when I first got there I felt like I wasn't in America haha, might not be for everyone, but there were some fast food restaurants there along with Asian food. The Airbnb itself is nearby a McDonalds, Bank of America, gas station, deli, etc. It was a positive experience for my first Airbnb.
Rea was a fantastic host, the house was super clean and she was kind enough to allow us to eat her food. Her communication was also great, she is a lovely lady. The only thing is the area is too far from the attractions (about 1 hr by train) and there are too many Asians in the area who don't even speak English. So half of the time you don't even feel like your in America!! This location is not for young people, probably ok if your over 40 years. If i am being critical, the shower was hard to understand so i would often burn myself with the hot being too hot. I wish she put signs there to explain how it works (like she did with most things). Overall fantastic experience the house is very spacious too. I would definitely stay here again if i wasn't coming for tourist stuff and maybe if i was a little older.
