Only 4.5 miles from Lexington, 3 colleges, restaurants & shopping this sweet cabin, c.1860, sits at the end of an internal farm road. On 250 acres of rolling farmland this cabin has it all: woods to rear, hayfield to side & mown meadow to the front. Private deck. Lovely vistas.
This cabin is really adorable. It dates from 1860 & was brought to the farm from another part of VA. It has had a kitchenette, a bathroom with claw-foot tub, a bedroom & a deck added to it. We have kept the rusticness yet it has 'modern' amenities ie central heat/ac plus baseboard heat if needed & electric. This cabin is fully outfitted with linens, towels, pots & pans, dishes/silverware, quality bedding & basic condiments. You will want/need to be okay with being by yourself & the dark of a country night. Located only 4 miles to heart of downtown Lexington with an excellent selection of restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops etc & 3 miles to several chain restaurants.
Our guests are welcomed to walk on the 250 acres of farm as long as long as they do not disturb guests in the other cabins. Our 5 cabins are at least 300 yards or more from each other.
This cabin is a 'self catering' space. We have no interaction with guests unless requested. We honor your desire for quiet & privacy. You may see or hear the mower on some days or see general maintenance being handled. If you are lucky to be here when the hayfield is being harvested you are in for a treat!
NOTE: 12% sales tax is included in the quoted cabin rate making this rate a discounted price. Add'l people over 2 have added cost. This cabin is the only cabin that is all on one floor. There is a loft accessible by a drop down ladder in middle of kitchen for the adventurous. The single bed 'overflow' room is simple, small, has no door & dresser is just outside. While it was originally meant for an extra child it has been used mostly by adults. The bed is comfy. Also, the refrigerator will have condiments in the door both supplied by us & by previous guests. If there is something left that we feel is usable it will be left for your consideration so that you may not need to purchase it. Guests need to be comfortable with the dark & the country. One can often see the Milky Way without interference from city lights! We do our best to be good country neighbors & 'keep the country in the country' by asking that all outdoor lights be turned off at night. Bring a good flashlight & comfy shoes. The cabin is supplied with 'starter' coffee, teas, cocoa, condiments, dish soap, paper towels & toilet paper etc. If you need more than we provide you will find a grocery store only a few miles from the cabin. We supply 2 towels for each person for a 2-3 day stay. Our gift to you is a bottle of wine. If you do not wish to have one please let us know beforehand. We know that everyone does not drink alcohol & might prefer to not have it around.
We ask our guests to respect the tranquility of our farm & other guests that may be on property. As a self catering retreat center we ask our guests to leave the cabin neatened, dishes washed & put away, garbage taken to large can outdoors. Parking for your car is approximately 25 yards from the cabin entrance. If your stay is longer than a few days we will pick up the garbage or tell you where you can take it on your way to town. We expect guests to respect the property, building & contents. All smoking is to be outdoors & butts need to be handled responsibly as there are grasses & lots of woods. 2 car maximum. NO ATVs. This cabin is one of three cabins suitable for children or pets. We require guests to clean up after their dog both inside & outdoors so that the next guests are not having to encounter the previous pet. ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPFIRES ARE PERMITTED. Thank you for helping us protect the forests & old wood cabins.
