A charming terraced house with all main rooms looking onto the bobbing fishing boats and changing tide. Fantastic for couples and families. Convenience store/post office, bakery, Chinese, pubs and cafes. Approaching easily from the main route through Cornwall towards St Ives, the entrance into Portreath is stunning as you look down onto the view across Gull Rock. Exploring the coves by kayak or coasteering is exhilarating, and varied ages love 'crabbing' off the harbour steps at high tide.
The house is a fully functioning home. Towels, bed linen, pillows and all the usual items are provided. The main bedroom has a king size bed. The middle bedroom has a double bed, and the small bedroom a single bed. The bathroom has a combined shower/bath unit. There is also a separate WC downstairs.
There is space outside the back of Waterside Cottage to park a small/medium car, and further spaces are available nearby, on a first come, first served basis, also free parking on the surrounding roads near the house.
The beach is guarded well by one of the largest Surf Life Saving Clubs in Cornwall, providing safe bathing for children with rock pools for exploring, jumping and paddling. Biking along the mining tracks to Devoran is exhilarating, where a pub lunch or picnic can be enjoyed. Walks through the valley to Tehidy Woods provide a superb adventure, taking you on a circular walk, returning by the South West Coastal Path. For the more sporty, golf is available at Tehidy Golf and Country Club and Gwel an Mor provides (for a small fee) an indoor pool, gym, steam room and sauna. Spot the reindeer on the walk through the woods at Gwel an Mor!
Only 10 minutes by car or a good walk or bike ride will take you to Hell's Mouth, where there's a cream tea cafe. Gwithian has a fabulous surfing beach, with the Sunset Cafe hiring out surfing gear. The Red River pub, plus the National Trust's café and lighthouse at Godrevy are all great locations (in fact one of our favourites), and seals can be viewed in their secluded cove at Mutton Bay. Waterside Cottage has a front terrace overlooking the harbour, where a sunny breakfast can be enjoyed. At the rear a private courtyard and sunroom enjoy the afternoon/evening sun.
Easily visit any attraction in Cornwall including Cornwall Gold Treasure Park, St Agnes, Truro Cathedral, St Ives, Falmouth, The Lizard, Sennen Cove, the Camel Trail (scenic estuary bike ride) at Wadebridge, Padstow, Porthleven, Mousehole, Porthcurno's award winning spectacular Minack outdoor theatre, Land's End and much more.
I will always try to be available around the 3pm check in time, or my partner Mark. However I do have work commitments, so the key safe is set to your code in case I cannot be there. My mobile number is available as you know.
Outside, with the harbour located immediately beyond, the front patio area provides a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the views of boats bobbing and indulging in some people spotting - including watching people taking their kayaks or fishing boats out for the day, or the local gig rowing club setting off for a practice! The rear patio enjoys the afternoon and evening sun so that you can enjoy the end of the day while listening to the sound of the sea. There is a clothes line and airers for drying your beachwear ready for your next day of adventure. A windbreak is available, and body-boards. A chest contains various beach equipment for your use.
We would really appreciate it if outside shoes are removed and kept in the porch areas. Also, please contact me if you find any problems, such as bulbs blown, or items not working.
