Yolanda and Manuel are very warm and caring, easy to talk to and a happy couple. It should probably be said that they are very talented, too, as we came to discover that Manuel had actually build the whole unique pool area and the gorgeous bathroom himself (his hobby is working with stone). The whole house and garden are very tastefully decorated, there isn't anything irritating the eye, everything is very harmonious and relaxed at the same time. It's a perfect location for those who want to enjoy beautiful surroundings but prefer practical and durable design, a space to be lived in and not just looked at (after all, with two young children we didn't want to end up in a museum, afraid to touch anything). The design in this house in Piera is robust and can take any group of guests, whether it's 10 heavily drinkers partying all night by the pool or, like ourselves, a family with active and free minded children.
One of major pluses in the house is the number of bedrooms (4) and beds (many!) as well as bathrooms. There are mosquito nets on all the windows, the kitchen is well equipped, including a good Nespresso machine and a well functioning dishwasher and washing machine. There is also one more kitchen (with a fridge, stove, etc.) and toilet next to the pool, with possibilities for a luscious bbq. There's even a beer machine.
The place has good WiFi, a very large screen TV and a couple stereos (also outside). You can also bring your own DVD's to watch as Spanish Netflix is not really the coolest.
The house is located in a very quiet village, the neighborhood is safe and you can park for free in front of the house (make sure your hand breaks are in order as it's quite a steep slope). There is a pretty good supermarket in central Piera, where some organic food and gluten free stuff is available. The hosts will provide you with a map and all the info.
The views on the mountains from the roof terrace and from the road leading to Piera are spectacular. I had my easel with me to paint, but the hosts - artistic as they are - are also lending paints and other stuff if you want to do some artwork!
All in all, we had an amazing stay. And if you get tired of the mountains, the best beach town there is in Spain - Sitges - is just 45 min away along a gorgeous wine route!
