There is no place quite like the Artist House of Wonder Valley, the main house of this fantastic high desert compound. The ethereal light of this region floods into the house during sunrise & sunset, illuminating the vibrant color palette of the textiles and art throughout the house. There are three wood-burning fireplaces, two bedrooms, a flagstone floor, full kitchen, private access to a pool and hot tub in the oasis-like backyard, and sprawling native cactus gardens surrounds the house.
The Artist House is the main building of a poolside compound (the other space is "The Pool House of Wonder Valley"). You can book both spaces, but we will not have separate guests booked simultaneously to ensure you have a private stay.
^ here is a GQ video shot at the artist house.
* Please contact to book both spaces for a reduced rate
Guests have access to the full house - two bedrooms, a large kitchen & dining area, the master bathroom, living rooms and expansive outdoor spaces on the front gardens and backyard pool area with an outdoor shower and grill. The hot tub is heated, pool is not.
The caretaker's name is Alison - she will handle the booking & be available should you need anything during your stay.
The hot tub is heated, but not the pool
The water is well water - safe to drink, but bottled water is better. Spring water is provided.
It is cooled by evaporative cooling, not conventional AC (as most homes in the desert are).
Wildlife disclaimer: this is the desert, home to birds, turtles, snakes, spiders, rabbits, owls, and other critters. Don't be surprised to see some of these desert dwellers during your stay in this wild and remote landscape.
- No photoshoots without permission
- No glass in or near the pool area
- Keep house locked up when you are not home
- Guests are responsible to use the pool area responsibly (don't drink intoxicated, don't dive headfirst etc.) The owner will not assume responsibility for any poolside injury or accidents
- Do not leave any fires in the fireplaces unattended, please use responsibly
I live in the Joshua Tree with my husband & dog. We run a business called Wonder Valley - available spaces to stay include:
Big Blue, The Silver Cabin, The Pool House and The Artist House of Wonder Valley.
