My place is in a rural setting and is an ideal base to explore the Southwest and Geographe region of Western Australia. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space. My place is great to share with friends looking for an escape to the country. Come and enjoy....
The historical "Crendon" homestead, built in 1894 and owned by the same family since 1904, has recently been partially renovated. The bathroom and toilet have been the most recently renovated sections of the house. The house and it's surrounds provides an ideal location to relax and enjoy a short break.
The living, kitchen and bedrooms are all spacious and filled with natural light. Although there is no air conditioning the solid brick walls, high ceilings, a high pitched ceiling space and wide verandahs all contribute to keeping the house naturally cool in the summer and warm in the winter. In addition there are overhead fans and a log fire in the living area. In winter the beds have electric blankets.
The extensive lawns surrounding the house and the farmland view from all windows adds to the sense of space and wellbeing. The perfect place to relax with family and friends.
Sit outside on the day bed with a coffee first thing in the morning (with the morning sun warming the cushions) or with a glass of wine at the end of a day and watch the birds going through their beginning/end of day routine. If the bird bath is empty please fill it as the birds love to utilise it for their daily wash. It is always a delight to watch nature at its natural best.
All water in the house is rainwater. Please be mindful of this when showering. Water from the garden hoses is sourced from our farm dam but safe for your dog to drink.
Guests have access to the whole house. Guests can also utilise any contents in the pantry (well stocked with all the standard staples and a few extras) and the fridge if they find themselves short of an ingredient in the process of cooking up a storm...
The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, glassware and crockery (including platters and serving dishes for the nibbles to accompany the glass of wine on the verandah).
The room off the laundry/lobby area is not to be accessed by guests. Please do not go into the farm sheds. Be mindful of fences on the property beyond the house perimeter as they are electrified. For your own safety if you wish to interact with the horses and cattle please remain on the other side of the fences. The horses will happily come up to say hello.
If you enjoy reading, the bookshelves are well stocked with fiction, autobiographies, local and family history. Settle into the leather recliner chair to have that quiet read.
Guests are encouraged to contact me if they have any questions either before or during their stay. Mobile phone reception is dodgy so please utilise the land line ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)).
The property is a working farm so guests are to be aware of machinery and livestock activities close to the house.
Mobile phone reception is poor but the landline is available for guest use.
- Dogs must be on a lead at all times due to cattle and horses in neighbouring paddocks.
Other house rules are detailed in the notes in a folder which you will find on the sideboard.
I am a grandmother of 6 gorgeous grandchildren. I love my country residence and sharing a glass of wine with friends on the verandah overlooking the family property which has been in the family since 1904.
When travelling overseas I like to travel with a small group of friends and explore places that I haven't been to before. Over the years I have had some wonderful bareboat sailing trips with friends and 4-10 day horse riding trips when travelling on my own.
