Xepa is a 40ft houseboat moored at Kariba and is manned by two professional crew members for piloting, cooking and cleaning. A small tender boat is provided for fishing and game viewing.
The boat can be piloted all over Lake Kariba and moored overnight at various sites. For the full Kariba experience a minimum of three nights is recommended.
The boat consits of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equiped kitchen, two dining areas and an entertaining area on the top deck. The main bedroom has a double bed and ensuite bathroom, the second bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom has two bunk beds to sleep four.
The guests have full access to the boat apart from the crew quarters. Guests also have access to a small tender boat for game viewing and fishing.
I will not be on the boat but I can be contacted by phone and email or through the crew members. The crew members are fully knowledgable as to the best sites for fishing and game viewing.
The cost does not include fuel or national park fees which may be applicable.
Fuel is dependent on your desired journey but can be estimated at $100 per day of travel.
National park levy is charged per person, per night and payable directly to the local Parks office. Fishing permits are also issued at the Parks office.
It is customary to tip crew members, recommended at $10 for the captain and $5 for the deckhand per night.
Note: Food and drink for the entire journey needs to be purchased and loaded onto the boat prior to departure.
