I do not spend my life in front of PC where such messages are received. Ian might have messaged the day before his intentions, then I would have happily agreed. My only contact facility was by email, UNOBTAINABLE BY PHONE, presume lack of signal, and I said the key could be collected and the cottage accessed from 12.00. This email, by his own admission, he had failed to 'pick up'. I did not expect or want him to arrive at a particular time, merely to know approximately when, and had asked when acknowledging his booking, that he might indicate an 'estimated time of arrival'. This has worked satisfactorily and happily for ALL previous guests, see other reviews. Turning up at 9am unannounced is NOT an ETA. as he had 'arrived' with his car, and I was obliged to stay in as I had no idea when he might return for the key. I had an appointment in the afternoon, hence my attempts to contact Ian at least to find out whether to cancel or at least make an arrangement where he could collect the key. Yes, I was a bit put out, but some consideration to hosts who also have lives, would not go amiss.
