Paradise beckons from the bow of our beautiful 43' Leopard Catamaran, S/V Sapphire. We have 2 private cabins available for up to 4 guests. With several options available, your perfect vacation awaits!
OCTOBER 10TH UPDATE--Greetings from St. Thomas. We are pleased to report S/V Sapphire and her crew weathered both Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria successfully! We owe a huge debt of gratitude to many new friends in Culebra, Puerto Rico and will be forever grateful to have spent a month there. If you have a chance to visit Culebra some day, go for it! Beautiful beaches and great restaurants, people and music abound. Having returned to St. Thomas a few days ago, we are in awe at seeing not just the forces of nature unleashed, but how this wonderful, dynamic community has come together during this rebuilding process. Everywhere we look, we see people helping people. As of today, we are taking a slow tour of our beloved islands, and will be posting pictures on our social media pages. We are also working hard to refit our boat with upgrades, new linens and more water toys! Our calendar and listing is a bit unkempt at the moment. Please be patient with us and we will be opening up 2018 dates over the next few days. Beginning in December, we will be transitioning to full, all-inclusive sailing charters in the USVI & BVI, and will most likely be based out of Red Hook for easy access to St. John and beyond. We are truly excited and feel incredibly fortunate that we have the opportunity to continue offering once-in-a-lifetime sailing adventures for our guests. We hope we will be welcoming you aboard soon! PS--Our wifi is still a bit spotty at the moment, so please do forgive any delays in response. Kind regards, Jeremy & Christina ----------------------
Come sail with us in the jewel-toned waters of the Caribbean! From breathtaking beaches, to incredible snorkeling, to the serenity of S/V Sapphire under sail, this is once-in-a-lifetime stuff. Come adventure with us! This option has a 5 night minimum, which allows us to show you the best the US and British Virgin Islands have to offer.
-->1-2 guests $900 per day. 3-4 guests $1,000 per day. Prices increase Nov 1st.
-->Pricing includes full use of the boat and all amenities including water toys, linens, and all running expenses such as fuel, water, cooking gas, ice, cruising permits and mooring fees, in addition to breakfast, dinner and ship’s bar.
-->A crew gratuity, based on your level of satisfaction, but typically 15-20% of the charter rate is not included.
Our boat has a 4 cabin, 4 bathroom layout. One port side cabin is reserved for your hosts, and you have the entire starboard hull (2 cabins) dedicated for your group. The remainder of our catamaran is shared space, including the salon (dining area), cockpit, sugar scoop transoms, trampolines, and our hammock area.
Our menu varies but we try to shop for local produce and selections whenever possible. Guests who book with us will receive a preferences form to allow us to get to know you.
Breakfast we are pretty easy-going. Christina likes to bake fresh bread several times per week, and Jeremy will usually make eggs with avocado, sometimes French toast, pancakes and fresh fruit, etc. Coffee goes on first thing- usually around 6:30am.
Our regular dinner menu includes the following (we are heavily dependent upon what is fresh and available locally on a given day)
Tequila lime chicken with mango salsa
Grilled Caribbean pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes
Garlic Ginger wings
Catch of the day with pineapple chutney
Sweet & spicy chicken
Black & Blue burgers
Spicy Thai shrimp soup
Barbecue bacon chicken
Appetizers are usually pretty simple: chips or crackers, hummus, salsa, guacamole or a dip of some kind. Whatever goes best with the day's sunset. :)
Our boat is also available in St. Thomas. Have a look at our per cabin listings and our guest reviews here:
ON BOARD AMENITIES
> Water toys: We have Snorkel Masks & Fins, and Swim Floats aboard for fun in the water, which you are welcome to use during your stay.
>Our brand new tandem kayak
>Ocean floating lounger set
> Linens: All beds are dressed in clean sheets and pillows. The master stateroom has a comforter, and the aft cabins have lightweight bedspreads. Each guest is provided a clean bath towel and beach towel at the beginning of their stay. As a water conservation practice, we will change out towels for guests staying 5 days or longer on the 4th day of your stay.
> You will need to bring your own personal toiletries such as toothpaste and hair shampoo, creams etc.
> Charging electronics: As power conservation on the boat is a necessity, charging opportunities will be limited, but we will do our best to accommodate. It would be a good idea to leave laptops at home, if they are not necessary.
> Telecom: While In St. Thomas you should be able to use your AT&T and Sprint devices, as it is a US territory. We would advise however that you disable data roaming and check with your provider prior to your trip. Verizon is a no-go, as they do not have towers on island. We've heard mixed reviews regarding T-Mobile. Always check with your carrier to confirm prior to travel. St. John some areas have limited AT&T coverage.
+++Minimums, Availability & “BEST RATE” requests+++
We truly want your vacation to be amazing! We work hard to clean and prepare our boat for your stay, launder linens, provision the galley, reposition the boat, haul ice, stock the bar and top up fuel and water as needed. We have found a minimum stay of 4 nights for stay aboard and 5 nights for sailing experiences to work best for us and our guests. While we occasionally allow for a 3 night stay aboard, there is a $75 surcharge for this request. We currently do not offer sailing experiences for any stay of less than 5 nights.
Our calendar is always up-to-date. If you are seeing dates blocked off, this means they are not available. We do not currently have our location or pricing set for Fall/Winter season 2017-2018. We are considering a relocation of the boat a bit further north, and haven’t made a final decision yet. As soon as we know, we will open those dates on our calendar, we promise!
Living aboard is an amazing experience and we enjoy sharing it with our guests! Opening our home to guests has been truly rewarding. We always offer our best rates available online and we work very hard to ensure we are consistently the best value around while providing 5 star service. No need to ask for discounts or a better rate, as those are already included in our pricing online. We do anticipate pricing increases after November 1st when we move to full-time all-inclusive sailing charters.
--All guests must be 18 years of age or older
--No spray-on sunscreen allowed on the boat.
--No shoes are worn while on the boat.
--We strongly recommend trip insurance, particularly during hurricane season (June – November). Dinghy pickups, sailing experiences and the like are all weather dependent, and the captain has final say on weather-related matters.
-- We are a small, family business dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our guests. Please understand that when we hold reservation dates for you and your group, we cannot waive cancellation fees unless we are able to rebook your dates. We strongly encourage you to purchase trip insurance, in the event someone in your group becomes ill and/or cannot travel, or in the event your plans change.
--Our boat has a 4 cabin, 4 bathroom layout. One cabin is reserved for your hosts, and this listing is for 2 private cabins, each with an ensuite bathroom. The remainder of our catamaran is shared space.
--Each cabin has a strict maximum occupancy of 2 guests.
--Last dinghy shuttle from shore is at 9pm, unless previous arrangements are agreed upon.
--For events, please send an inquiry first for preapproval prior to booking.
--The SAILOR’S DELIGHT experience requires an additional contract which will be sent upon booking. Verbiage for this contract is available by request.
--Wifi available only while moored in Elephant Bay/St. Thomas. Wifi operates from 7am – 10pm daily.
--CAPTAIN’S CHOICE/STAY & PLAY/SAILOR’S DELIGHT packages must be booked in advance, normally within 48 hours of your original reservation. This allows us to plan accordingly and prepare for your arrival.
--Water conservation on the boat is a necessity. Excessive water consumption may result in additional charges.
--Your hosts are non-smokers but smoking is allowed on the exterior, back of the boat in a designated area only. Thank you!
Hello! Let me introduce myself. I'm Jeremy and I will be your Dinghy Captain, Grill Master, Breakfast Chef, and on-board entertainment (guitar, uke, ridiculous stories...) while you are aboard. If you are staying with us over a Friday evening, I'll also be playing live at our favorite local beach bar and grill "Dinghy's" on Water Island.
When i'm not here aboard our catamaran, I am a working actor, represented by Houghton Talent, Inc. (Atlanta)
