A newly-built, immaculate & well-furnished self-contained annexe to the main house, with mountain views & separate entrance. Perfectly positioned in a quiet and picturesque cul de sac, yet within easy walking distance of restaurants & pubs, shops, tourist office & attractions, nature walks/hikes, mountain climbing. Suited to single guests or couples who want either (or both!) a quiet, relaxed get-away or an adventurous yet comfortable experience in our gorgeous countryside town.
The annex comes with a fully equipped kitchenette (with tea/coffee and breakfast cereals on hand, plus a bottle of local wine as our "welcome" to you on your arrival); a living room with TV/DVD player and double-doors that lead you to a secluded patio table and chairs for outdoor relaxation or meals; the bedroom has a queen-size bed, reading lamp, electric blanket (for winter) and window seat for extra sunshine; and the bathroom comes with a shower (and hairdryer), basin, mirrors and loo. A ceiling fan in the living room and bedroom make our hot summer days/nights more comfortable, and a heater and electric-blanket is provided in winter. BBQ facilities are also available on request.
For quiet nights in, we offer a library of good DVDs as well as BBQ facilities; and for active days, we offer brochures/info on the local tourist attractions & events (and the Tourist Office is literally just around the corner). My husband, Charles, is also willing to accompany you (if needed) on your kloof/mountain walks or hikes, and Muscadel/wine tasting tours if you don't want to drink-'n-drive (please book this in advance). Parking is off-road and secure, but if you're especially worried about your car and belongings, then parking behind locked gates is available on request. And for the really active, you can borrow our bicycles (one lady's bike, two men's bikes).
If you're here on a Tuesday, you're welcome to join your host at an evening Rotary meeting (and find out how Rotary is serving our diverse community); and on Wednesday evenings, you're welcome to listen in (or sing along) at a rehearsal of my 20-voice community choir (Montagu A Cappella). We're also on hand (we live next door!) to recommend restaurants, activities and the like.
Sadly, we don't - and can't - provide accommodation for those with pets, children/babies, and/or those with a need to smoke indoors or party late at night. That's because we value the tranquility of our neighbourhood (and neighbours).
- Quiet hours: 21h30 - 07h30 - to maintain the tranquility of our neighbourhood
- Check-in: after 14h00. Check-out: before 11h00. Unless by prior arrangement.
Hi there. One word to describe me is 'busy'. In addition to running a home and maintaining a garden (fruit and veggies, too), and working from home, I also do voluntary and fund-raising work in my region, and I lead an adult choir that gives regular performances. I enjoy trying out new recipes, listening to BBC radio 4, and attending the annual Poetry Festival in our region. Where harmony acappella singing opens my heart, Sudoku (and other puzzles) challenges my brain, being out in nature comforts the spirit.
