My place is good for couples, business travelers, and big groups.
Whistling Acres is a quiet country location but close to so many attractions. You are welcome to walk around the 11 acre farm or enjoy the front porch with a morning cup of coffee. There is also an outdoor gas grill on the front porch. The fenced in area in the rear of the house is private.
Please feel free to walk around the 11 acre property. The fenced in area in the rear of the house is our private area so we ask that you do not access the fenced in area. There is a fire pit to the right side of the house. We supply your first nights wood but if you want to burn more than that, we ask that you bring your own firewood.
We are available by phone or text if you need us but we like to give our guests their privacy.
There is a cot with all linens in Bedroom #1 and 2 cots in Bedroom #4. They are what I have listed as air matresses. All the other beds are real beds.
There are cooking utensils so all you need to bring are your groceries.
We have two friendly dogs on the premise but they are not allowed in your private section of the house.
Be considerate of neighbors when using the property outside after 11pm and before 7am.
Smoking is permitted in outside areas only, but please do not dispose of your cigarette butts in the gardens or lawn. We ask that you use the ash trays provided.
There are 7 spots available for parking, 5 unpaved and 2 paved. Please do not park in front of the garage.
I grew up in the small town of Tyrone, PA in a family of 7 children. There was always a house full of people so I got accustomed to having company and making a household "work" amidst gatherings of friends and family. When I met the love of my life and married into a full-fledged Italian family, I learned a new level of hospitality that centered heavily around great food, wine and laughter. Both experiences - my childhood upbringing and Italian in-laws - groomed me for a lifetime of hosting. After owning and operating the Main Street Inn Boutique Hotel in Kutztown, PA for 8 years, I handed the reigns to my daughter, Shena, and "retired".
With new time to spend at home, I realized we were no longer in need of the big home that we raised our 3 daughters in. I enlisted my husband Angelo, a skilled contractor, to renovate the property into two separate homes. Whistling Acres Guest House was born.
Renting Whistling Acres means you rent from a wife and a mother of 3 grown daughters (that's me). My husband Angelo is from Castlefranci, Italy. We have been married for 33 years and moved to Kutztown in 1991. We both enjoy hiking, biking, cooking, and relaxing with family and friends. I love to garden and spend as much time outdoors as possible. Our daughters, Shena, Jo, and Angela still live nearby and visit almost weekly. We have 2 very friendly Golden Doodles but our dogs are not permitted in our guest quarters so if you are not dog friendly, that's ok.
We love meeting new people and we will be available to you as needed but will absolutely respect your privacy. The living spaces are separated by solid french doors so we're never sharing space but we're just a knock or phone call away.
If you're here to explore, there are plenty of attractions nearby. Downtown Kutztown is a 10-minute drive away, with a walkable Main Street, a beautiful University campus, the Kutztown Park, The Strand vintage movie theatre, Saucony Creek gastro-pub, the Kutztown Tavern, Uptown Espresso Bar, Letterman's Diner, Vynecrest Winery Tasting room, Adam-n-Eve boutique, Firefly bookstore, Renningers Farmers Market (Friday & Saturday only), and so much more! There are events year round that draw eclectic crowds from all over. The Kutztown Folk Festival and the Antique Extravaganza draw attendees from across the country!
You can hit several wineries without going further than 30 minutes away and the surrounding countryside is dotted with local farmers and artisans, growing and making the finest products you'll ever experience - meat, cheese, veggies, you name it!
Lastly, if you're seeking peace and quiet, a refuge from life's daily grind, you'll find the dirt road we're located on is not heavily traveled, and the nearby creek and woods play soothing tunes of nature. We are a mere 15 minutes from Hawk Mountain Sanctuary and several hiking trails that lace you through the beautiful Appalachian Mountain range and present breathtaking views.
No matter what you seek, I'm certain Whistling Acres Guest House will bring you comfort and unforgettable memories.
