Swallows Nest is in its tenth year of providing relaxing holidays for our guests.
Within five minutes you can be on Bodmin Moor with its rich history from Bronze Age villages and Ceremonial Stone circles to 18-19th century copper and tin mining ruins. Ponies, sheep and cattle wander freely over the moor. The whole area is a walker’s heaven.
Further afield are the lovely National Trust houses of Lanhydrock House, and Cotehele. The Eden Project is just over 20 miles away.
** The Cottage **
We converted if from a dilapidated cowshed to a comfortable 1 bedroom en suite holiday home.
The bedroom has a 5’ bed, with duvet, quality cotton bedding, bedside tables, fitted wardrobe, chest of draws, and a hairdryer.
The bathroom has a spa bath with over bath shower.
The lounge area has a 2-seater leather sofa, coffee table, TV with Freeview, and CD player, together with local free leaflet packs, maps and guides, and local history books. If you feel you need to keep in touch with the world, Wi-Fi is free.
The dining table is just inside the glazed door giving access onto the garden area.
The galley kitchen area has full cooker, 2-ring hob, microwave, and sink. There is a fridge/freezer a washer/dryer, and a toaster.
The garden has been changed this year, and provides a gravel patio area and a lawn with shrubbery screening, with views onto the fields and looking up to Bodmin Moor. A garden table with sun canopy, BBQ, and sun loungers are available.
Phil & Angela are available to give advice on where to go and what to see.
There is a key safe on the front door to gain access to the key, if we should not be in ( code will be available when you book.)
You have your own front, and back door.
You will have sole use of your own private garden area, and your own parking alongside the building.
Phil and Angela are the owners, and live in the barn opposite, in a quiet lane between the villages of Rilla Mill, and Upton Cross, on the edge of Bodmin Moor. The south facing enclosed private garden at the rear offers views of Caradon Hill, Minions, and Sharp Tor.
When its dark here its really dark! A walk to the local pub, The Manor House will require a torch to get you home, but on a clear night the stars will blow your mind!
There are no rules as such, but we would appreciate it if you would leave the place clean.

Having lived in the Cornwall County for 35 years I have been able to witness the ever changing landscapes and untamed beauty of the Cornish Coast. Having retired a few years ago it was an ambition of mine to be able to share the views that I have become so fond of over the time I have called Cornwall home and want to ensure my guests experience the same level of relaxation & spectacular sights in a place that truly feels like a home away from home.
