Staying with Melinda for almost 2 full weeks was truly a breath of fresh air. I was working at the Royal Columbian Hospital during my stay, on a medical school rotation. Being from small town Saskatchewan, having to travel to and find my way around a city as large and alien as Vancouver for work purposes was definitely intimidating and stressful. She was very approachable, helpful, and invested in making sure I was getting on okay. She and her son were especially helpful in suggesting methods of public transit and nearby restaurants/grocery stores, for those needing a more longterm stay. She also made sure that the room amenities were up to my (rather picky) standards, and was always available in person or at the end of a quick text message if I had any questions. The bed in my room was awesomely comfy, and I typically hate all beds but my own... One thing I found particularly nice was the available coffee in the morning and provided breakfast, as well as other various edible extras. Her house is also so elegantly beautiful and comfy; sitting next to the fireplace in the living room quickly became my choice work station. Overall, my stay was very comforting and natural, considering how long I have to stay away from home... she and her son gradually came to feel like family. I would 100% stay with her again, and would likely even visit if I was ever passing through. :) You won't meet a more genuine or down to earth host as Melinda, I guarantee that!
