It's always difficult to rate winter holiday apartments in ski-areas in my opinion, especially during the holiday season. Let's start with the good things. This giant complex was probably build in the late seventies and it still has all of it's original details. It's located above the village of Cervinia. Wouldn't recommend walking to the centre and back after a day of ski-ing. It's too far and a steep climb back. There runs a bus-line from the centre to a bus-stop in front of the building. Daily rides every 30-ish minutes. It should've been a free ride (like most ski resorts have) considering the money people spend in the community during their holidays but fare is asked (1,20 per ride). No rides in the evening.
The private parking space in the building is really convenient and a welcome luxury, considering the lack of parking lots around. Especially during the holiday season you really can't do without.
250 meters steep downhill there's a small supermarket (avoid it, it sells crappy overpriced stuff. Instead use the big one downtown), a really good and friendly ski-rental shop (sells ski passes as well) and two restaurants (I can not really recommend both).
It's also the spot to ski downhill on an official slope. The end of that run will bring you (you need to walk a steep 250 meters up again) towards the main lifts in the village.
There's a private locker for ski-gear near the entrance hall of the complex, and two lifts, all really welcome after a full day of exercise.
The interior of the apartment is probably late seventies, let's say rustic, so was the smell.
I loved the original details like the nicely designed floor and wall tiles. The kitchen really needs attention. The lack of kitchen stuff, greasy cupboards, and no oven was really disappointing.
The balcony and view on the mountains is terrific. The double bed in the bedroom has a good mattress. We had to bring our own duvet cover, mattress cover-sheet, and towels. I already told Alice that that is too much asked from travelers abroad nowadays.
The water from all tabs was rusty and yellow for the first 5 minutes. Due to old piping in the complex? It was better in the days after but it still wasn't totally clear during bathing.
It all made the impression the apartment hasn't seen any inhabitants since long.
We didn't meet Alice but she was responsive and provided us with necessary information in her e-mails. She was really flexible in a late check-out! Loved that!
If the apartment gets thoroughly cleaning, the kitchen gets the attention it needs, and Alice buys a new shower curtain, makes sure all table-lamps work, and provides complete bedding including some basics like towels, kitchen towels, toilet paper, dish-soap, pepper-salt-sugar, ratings will go up and it will be almost worthwhile the price asked during the holiday season. Now it's not.
