My apartment is located in a liberty style building from the early 20th century – while it’s beautifully furnished in a rather 50’s vintage style. Only 10 minutes by bus or a short stroll from the historic centre and its amazing seafront, it’s the ideal location to explore the treasures of this unique city.
The apartment is comfortable and welcoming; it’s an ideal base for exploring beautiful Trieste. The building has recently undergone a renovation, highlighting its surprising liberty style façade (which I leave you to discover). The apartment too has been renovated recently: isolation and heating are state of the art, while decoration-wise I kept the classy 50s style from the era when my grand dad first moved in – but always with a twist of irony. The kitchen is a true mint-green gem of that epoch!
The place has two sleeping rooms: one with a double bed and a smaller one with a single bed – both are real beds; and these two rooms are more modern than the rest to give you all the sleeping comfort required. Kitchen, living room, bath room and toilet though have the looks of the roaring 50, less the mustiness!
There are several bus lines connecting the place to the city centre, one of them going directly to the station. From the station to my place the bus takes about 10 minutes, to the historical city centre it’s roughly the same time. If on a sunny day you prefer to walk, it’ll take you about 10 minutes to the city centre, and less than half an hour to the historic piazza Unità and its amazing seafront, and it’s a beautiful stroll.
And of course, we’ll help you out with restaurants, bakeries and cafés in Trieste, and in the area. Don’t miss the Austrian-style cafés of the city! And you’ll learn that in Trieste, when you want to order what the rest of Italy calls a macchiato, you’ll have to ask for a ‘cappuccino’ – and to amaze everybody you may just say a ‘capo in b’ as people do here.
Explore and enjoy!
