You’ll be surrounded by magnificent walking trails – take your pick from easy strolls along the pretty River Lune or challenging peaks like Calf Top (609 metres high), which starts in Barbon.
The lovely stone cottage is just as elegant inside, with its ceiling beams in light wood, brilliant white walls and an open-plan layout. Little touches, like a stylish tiled floor in the bathroom and carefully chosen artwork, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. Windows along one side let in plenty of daylight – this space is really lovely for spending time reading, cooking and eating. Thanks to comfortable seating and a wood burner, you can relax into quiet evenings recuperating after long days spent in the Great Outdoors. Outside, a gorgeous south-facing private patio offers an idyllic setting for fresh-air dining.
From the cottage, you’ll have easy access to a footpath leading up Middleton Fell, offering stunning views and a chance to immerse in nature, all without needing the car. Kirkby Lonsdale is celebrated for its delis, weekly market and plenty of eateries, all set within charming cobbled streets all ripe for exploration. Golf fans can enjoy a round at Kirkby Lonsdale’s course (2 miles), or one of the two others within a 10-mile radius. Kendal, the gateway to the Lake District, is also only 14.5 miles away opening up more opportunities for lakeside walks, boat trips and water-based activities.
