Tucson is a town where the outdoor space rules the seasons. Whether its riding out the tail end of a powerful monsoon thunderstorm, or soaking in the cool breezes of the fall shadows (my personal favorite), the outdoor space in Tucson is the reason most of us live here. The interior of the home is practical by design but the real beauty of the home is the exterior spaces and the way they bring you out to meet the desert head on.
Our home is located in the Historic neighborhood of Jefferson Park. The neighborhood sits just north of the University of Arizona, strategically located near the streetcar but just far enough away from the University of Arizona to provide a peaceful enclave. It is also located less than 1 mile from Banner University Hospital and the Diamond Children's Medical Center. This is the perfect location for anyone needing to be within biking or walking distance of the University or Hospital.
For the "green" traveler, water harvesting and solar features are everywhere on the property, with not only passive surface rainwater collection, but also rooftop rainwater collection. In the summer the monsoon rains are also collected by stormwater collection basins in the front of the home. In addition, solar electric and solar thermal systems provide 100% of both the electrical and hot water needs of the home.
The home is walking distance to the University of Arizona and also the streetcar. The streetcar gives access downtown as well as the Menlo Park District which showcases some of Tucson's finest culinary treats.
The entire house and yard is for your use! There is a workshop located next door to the east that is rented by a carpenter and he requires occasional access, therefor the east driveway is off limits. The west driveway is for guest use as well as street parking of which there is plenty available without permit right in front of the house. If for special reason more off street parking is requires for a trailer or such, please request permission for use of east driveway in advance.
Depending on time of year for stays 1 week or more I may request to come by with 24 hours notice to water the outdoor plants in the yard. Typically that means ranging from once mid stay for a week rental during hot and dry months to once mid stay for a 3 week rental during the cold dormant months.
- Any loud socializations need to be brought indoors after 10:30pm on weeknights out of respect for the neighbors
- Smoking allowed outdoors only!
- Pets must not be left alone outdoors or in for any amount of time other than very short periods.
