The flat was a wonderful stay for our trip to Edinburgh. The price was great for the space you get and the location, though a walk, was a great way to enjoy the city but not be stuck right in the thick of it. This was especially good for us due to timing our trip during The Fringe Festival.
There were some things that that caught us of guard, that I want to ensure are obvious to others viewing the listing. Not entirely in a negative way, but were different than expected so I want to ensure we note them so others are aware.
1.) The listing says 1.5 bath, but in reality you get 1 full bath that is divided into two separate rooms. So if you were hoping to have two toilets, note that there is only one toilet, one shower.
2.) As noted by others, the room itself is smoke free but there must be quite a few others in the building who smoke. They've done a great job keeping the flat clean and adding nice smelling things in the space to help alleviate the smell a bit, but it is certainly still going to be noticeable for most. We kept the windows open most of the time, which helped a bit.
3.) The road directly outside the flat is busy almost all the time, especially during the day. This makes opening the windows for circulation and fresh air, a choice between air quality and noise. You're in the city, so it's not terribly surprising for the road noise, but its a higher speed and higher traffic road so the noise might be a bit more than most expect. Also, currently there was a lot of construction happening on the road so the jackhammers and concrete saws definitely added to the noise level.
Again, none of those issues were deal breakers for us, and they didn't negatively affect our trip one bit. We loved the place and our trip was just what we hoped it would be. However, I do feel that they should be noted for others so they can be aware of these things prior to arrival.
One last thing, if you get tired of pub food, the Chinese restaurant right next to the flat was wonderful and a great surprise. :)
