The straw bale guest house with 2 ft. thick walls is wonderfully cool in the summer heat, and cozy in the cold weather. We are located only two minutes drive from Boonville and all that its eateries and shops have to offer, in a very quiet and private location with extensive gardens and views out on hundreds of acres . Guests will be greeted by our very friendly Jack Russell who announces all arrivals but is otherwise not noisy.
Up till now, this has been our guestroom as well as a music room, and everyone who has stayed in it loves the space with its deep cool in the hot months and cozy atmosphere in winter. The bed is queen size with a very comfortable mattress. Quality coffee and tea are available in the room as well as fresh fruit, and the clawfoot tub in the bathroom has a hand held shower. With no kitchen facilities, we prefer no food in the room and ask that guests eat out. Wifi is now available.
The space is completely private and your parking is within 50 yards of the guesthouse, with a short walk along a garden path with a wisteria covered arbor. There is an outside light for later arriving guests.
Our front door is always open and we're more than willing to assist in any way we can.
Anderson Valley and all its tasting rooms is a major wine growing area and very beautiful. Hendy Woods State park with its giant old growth redwoods is within 6 miles of us. Hiking and biking opportunities abound as well as river kayaking and canoeing. The valley hosts wine festivals, the Anderson Valley Brewing beer fest, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival and the county fair, the Not So Simple Living fair, local artists' open studios weekend towards the end of May, and is a beautiful 30 minute drive to the Mendocino coast.
- Prefer no shoes in house - warm socks or slippers to deal with concrete floors.
