The apartment is perfect—large windows with lots of light and a wonderful cool breeze, even in summer—and on the ground floor. It is in an ideal location in Brasov, nestled on a gentle slope of a prominent hill in the old historic part of town—which makes it temperate and beautiful year round, truly no need for AC. We found it well-equipped for everything we could want or need—plenty of blankets, towels, etc—and Cristian even graciously installed an oven during our extended stay, so we could cook at “home” for our family (which this place truly became for us). There is very fast, reliable private wifi—this was important to us as we work online, and we never had any problems with it. The apartment has a wonderful bright, modern feel, and lovely greenery all around, including several cherry trees that were loaded with big, beautiful cherries while we were there. The photos really do not do it justice—we spent three wonderful months here, and wished we could have stayed longer.
Our host, Cristian, and his 3 wonderful young daughters, quickly became our friends. Our kids enjoyed exploring Brasov and the surrounding mountains together with his girls. Cristian was an excellent and attentive host, not only welcoming and genuinely concerned about us and the comfort of our stay, but very respectful. His knowledge of Brasov and ability as a tour guide made Brasov come alive for us.
Groceries are within walking distance—in fact, almost everything is within walking distance. There is something for everyone here—history and architecture, beautiful parks and playgrounds, brand new modern mall and movie theater. Endless hiking and adventure trails through some of the most beautiful landscapes around.
We found the people and children here to be unlike anywhere else in Europe, very caring and friendly. Children who look like they could be bullies on the playground turn around and help the little ones before darting off to slide and swing, only to repeat as they see other children in need of a hand.
Cristian and his family, as well as Brasov, are hidden gems in here in the Transylvanian mountains. We invite anyone to come and find them.
