Check in was simple, pressed the button on the entry keypad and host opened the door. The climb up the 90 steps was quite strenuous with luggage, and the stairway was very hot, no air-conditioning. The two bedrooms looked like there was clean linens, but the sheets on the pull out couch didn't look like it had been changed in some time, and the sofa bed was very uncomfortable to sleep on, ended sleeping sideways with feet hanging off the ends. First time stayed in an airbnb place, I expected something similar to a hotel. Soap, shampoo and toilet paper to be available and supplied. But, to be fair to the host, when we asked for extra toilet paper, he did respond right away for the request, but the maid did not deliver, and host was away, so we had to go out to purchase the basics ourselves. Location in relation to the Vatican and the Piazza Navona was fantastic, and even the shops and restaurants in the area, but the climb up the stairs was quite taxing on some of our family members who are in their late 70's. You didn't want to forget anything when you left and didn't want to make multiple trips back to rest in the afternoon when it got hot because of the climb. If you are young and have the energy, it's a great way to get physical exercise, and the view out the windows really is quite nice.
The site did state that the place was for 6 people, and extra people were no charge. We had a total of 7 people, (six adults and 1 child), which we had told the host right in the beginning. It would have been nice to be told there was an extra cost during our communications when we booked the place. We weren't told until after arrival, and the cost was an extra 25 euros per night for a cot that they brought up for my daughter, which was very nice of them to do, even though we didn't request it. So we left an extra 50 euros as requested by the host when we left. After everything, we probably would have stayed at a hotel with two rooms for all of us with an elevator for the same cost with more amenities, but the location may not have been as good. I have to say, that whenever we contacted the host, he was very quick to respond. Slight language barrier/interpretation with our host, but otherwise very responsive to emails. Great deal for younger families willing to climb. A/C and wi-fi worked great.
