Disadvantages: far from Alexanderplatz - simply decorated
§ (1.1) ABOUT THE FLAT (1.1)
Berlin has a fame of "cool city", "city of freedom", "exceptional city, which deserves undivided attention". It´s not that sophisticated as Paris and not so posh as London, but has recently also become pretty expensive in comparison to what we had 10 years ago. This apt has a fair price/quality ratio, which reflects location, comfort, season and the amount of guests.
It was the flat, where I used to live and when I was young I tempted to live in a good district, with a very good public transport availability, but wanted to have a peaceful and calm side-street with a park nearby. These are all the main features, which characterize this flat.
This flat has a special target audience: it´s not well located for the usual tourists, who need Alexanderplatz and House of Parliament - you´ll spend a lot of time on getting there, but from here you can reach the fair grounds on foot, as well as the Central Bus Station (ZOB). It would be great for the visitors, who would like to save some money, but don´t need a lot of luxury and design... Business travellers, young couples and everybody else with limited travelling budget are welcome here!
It´s a place for those of you, who is ready to pay for:
+ best accessability to Berliner Messe (fair grounds) and Central Bus Station (ZOB)
+ high quality satin bedlinen, which were ironed manually
+ quietness and tranquility
The flat it is located in a pretty old house (60 years) deep in Charlottenburg, but it has an elevator.
As long as I abandoned this flat, I actually left only things of main neccessity for the guests, so don´t expect too much from the flat...
Design is easy and puritanical.
§ (1.2) WHAT THE FLAT HAS (1.2)
+ Towels and bed linen (1 person - 1 towel, if you stay longer, than 1 week you get more)
+ WiFi (20 Mbit/s)
+ Washing mashine
§ (1.3.) WHAT THE FLAT DOESN´T HAVE (1.3.)
- Good kitchen
- Dish washer
- Climate control
§ (2) ABOUT ME (2)
Please keep in mind, that I´m trying to compensate the easiness of this apt with my personal care. 99% of the guests will be personally met by me or my brother.
In case of any problems you can always leave me a message on airbnb or call...
§ (3) PARKING (3)
Parking in this district is free of charge. You can leave your car at any free parking place along the street.
§ (4) ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD (4)
Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf is centrally located and is well connected by the excellent transportation system. It’s one of the best districts in Berlin in terms of everything. The demand for housing exceeds the supply. This district is peaceful, safe and central. Nature can be found right next to urban facilities. Due to the upscale living areas with villas and upscale family houses, the neighborhood mostly consists of graduates, artists and senior citizens. Kurfürstendamm - the main street of West Berlin - and Tauentzienstreet are a true shopper's paradise. There's everything from elegant boutiques to discounted designer stores, from specialist bookshops to electronics outlets. The pedestrian precinct on Wilmersdorfer Strasse becomes more and more attractive every year. If you are looking for something really special, you simply must explore one of the many shopping streets with their unique products and personal service.
By the way, one of the best description in English about this district I found in the blog of Joseph Pearson - Canadian writer, who moved to Berlin. Let me just paste a quotation from his blog: "The rediscovery of the Old West is a phenomenon of the past couple of years. I used to think of Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf as expensive, bourgeois, neighbourhoods full of old people. Have you seen the film City of Men? But this has changed. The pressure on housing farther East is making the West increasingly more popular with new Berliners. Charlottenburg has a bevy of good restaurants, art bookstores, beautiful old buildings and good transport links. The area closer to Zoo Station has seen a recent rejuvenation: but note, that much of the hip development, around the Bikini Mall for example, is decidedly corporate in character. That said, if you want to live centrally, in a part of town that is more ‘old world’ - think of areas around Savignyplatz – and where you can dress up as if you were in Paris, then changing Charlottenburg might be for you".
