This is a lovely Georgian grade II listed cottage in a historic and beautiful part of Wiltshire. Guests will have access to the whole house and spacious garden, and can relax in the evenings by the open fire in the living room, or visit one of the four pubs within just a few moments walk from the front door.
Everyone is welcome, and we are happy to receive pets as long as they stay downstairs.
This house was originally built in about 1805 and is grade II listed. You will have free run of the whole house, which has been used as a busy family home for the last seven years. Both of our children were born in the kitchen!
We have moved out of this house because we are going to have quite a large building project undertaken on the back of the house, extending the kitchen and updating the back of the house.
You are welcome to have free run of the whole house, enjoy the use of the open fire (we will leave some complimentary logs and fire lighting equipment for those cold evenings!), and use our kitchen, which has a really good Rangemaster oven - great for hearty family meals.
We have left also the washing machine and tumble dryer - feel free to use them during your stay. There is a small television and DVD player. You are welcome to use this and watch any of the DVDs that we have on the shelves, I would just ask that you put them back where you found them. We have also got loads of fiction books on the shelves - please feel free to read anything that is on the shelves but again we would really appreciate it if you would put everything back when finished.
There are three bedrooms, a double bedroom that we have used as the master bedroom, a large bunk room which is great for kids, and a single room perfect for another child or adult.
There is a small downstairs shower room and WC, and a bathroom upstairs with shower, bath and WC.
You will see when you get settled in that there is a rather run down conservatory on the back of the kitchen. This is waiting for refurbishment. It should not at all detract from your enjoyment but please be aware not to expect that the house is in absolutely perfect condition. It needs some work (which is happening soon) and you will find lots of signs of family life throughout the house. There are scuffed walls and skirting boards and walls that need repainting, and carpets that have coffee stains and desperately need replacing. It is not done up to holiday home standard but it is a lovely family home that we would love to share. Because it is not 100% perfect it makes it an ideal place to holiday with children and well behaved dogs are also welcome.
Adults can use the double bed in the master bedroom, and the single bed in the small room. The bunk bed is not designed to accommodate adults. Whilst an adult might fit in the lower bunk, the upper bunk is definitely for children only. The mattresses on the bunk are not designed to take an adult's weight and would not be comfortable for the night!
You can use the whole house and garden with no restrictions.
We live five miles away, and should always be able to help you if you have any problems.
- Clean and well behaved dogs are welcome in the downstairs area but not upstairs
- This is a family home which we are not living in at the moment, guests should be aware that it is not a perfectly presented holiday home, there are plenty of signs of family life around the place.
