This was a good little pad for me and a couple of mates to stay in August. There were a couple of breakages on a photo frame and some bed slats but this didn't affect us. But William was very quick to respond and very understanding of what we had found. He was also very welcoming and was very helpful considering we requested to stay with only a couple of days notice. Thanks again! :)
This apartment is in a quiet area near the university but not terribly near any touristy destinations. Just outside the front door of this building is substantial untended garbage. That is quite in line with most of the nearby units; this is not a house proud neighbourhood. Prior to our arrival W e were told in fairly lengthy terms to 'keep the noise to a minimum'; this rule did not seem to apply to the other tenants of the building. There was the distinct smell of cigarettes both within and without our apartment. The lighting in the hallway approaching the first floor entryway was limited and therefor not terribly safe. We encountered some neighbouring tenants, none of whom seemed particularly savoury. One sofa in the 'kitchen/dining room' was collapsed/broken as was one of the twin beds; appeared to be mostly ikea stuff... Both sofas had numerous unknown stains. Other than lacking a microwave the kitchen was well appointed. The bathroom was snug. The toilet was raised approx 4-6cm above normal. There were no hooks in the bathroom nor anywhere else in the apartment that we could find on which to hang personal belongings. We are from outside the UK. Our two electricity adapters that have worked fine elsewhere didn't seem to work in the unit. We asked for an adaptor but the landlord had none. After some searching, thankfully, we found two usb plugs on our own. Perhaps more could be added as could advice that they exist. With that in mind, W e looked for a booklet listing the house rules, amenities, nearby attractions, do's and don't's etc., but could find none on premises.
William's place in a great location with easy access to public transport or a short walk into the town centre. The bedrooms and beds were all great, nice quality and comfortable. The only issue we had was that the apartment was a fair bit smaller than we realised. For 8 adults it was a bit too crowded for comfort and one of the two sofas was very unstable. Despite that we had a lovely stay in Cardiff.
