Dear Diane, maybe you forgot about all our conversations we have prior to your arrival. The following documentation is cut & pasted directly from my Air BnB communication Inbox between you and I prior to your arrival here.
Clearly, the reader can make there own determination as to who is telling the truth, and who is not.
BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL:
YOUR QUESTION ON OCT.5, 2017
1. You asked about how the hot water shower worked. "Is it sun warmed on the roof, so it is weather dependent? Is there a limited a Limited small quality of water? I myself am more open to roughing it"
MY RESPONSE ON OCT.5, 2017 FROM MY IPAD (this is my direct response to you that I cut and Pasted) SO THERE WILL BE NO CONTRADICTION
"HI Diane, thank you for your interest in the cabin. The cabin has a "composting toilet" with the use of fresh cedar mulch. You would be suprised at how well it works, and no odor. There is a cedar shower stall in the cabin where you can heat up some water and that works fine for most people. We did just build a separate washroom facility a 1 minute walk away. There you will find a Coleman hot water on demand shower and the water is collected in a rain barrel and instantly heated.
Since we catch this water for showers via the roof we ask that the showers are very quick. You would be suprised at how much water you use at home but it does get the job done just very quickly. I hope that answers your question.
Thanks Sharon & Michael
There it is; You are not telling the TRUTH when you said you did not know that the shower in the cabin was not an actual functioning shower. There it is in right in the messages between you and I.
2. Another Question You Wrote prior to your arrival:
Hello Sharon and/or Michael, I hope this message finds you well!
My partner Paul and I are coming to your lovely eco-cabin next weekend (Sat 21st) for 2 nights.
We’re really looking forward to this “nature retreat”.
I have 3 questions.
1. I’m wondering if we can arrive as early as 12-12:30 pm on Saturday (Oct 21)?
We’ll have to leave at about 10:30AM on Monday so I want to make the most of our time there :-)
2. While I’m writing you I might as well confirm the following.
If I’ve absorbed all the information we need only bring:
a big water container (for drinking, and presumably cooking and dishwashing) clothes /slippers
food but the bedding and towels are provided? Is that correct?
3. I looked at the directions you provided but I can’t see a way on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps to go from N. Pickerel Lake Rd. onto Kent Rd. It seems you have to go from N. Pickerel Lake Rd to Pevensey Rd. Before turning right onto Kent (the onto the private road.)
Does that sound correct.
Is the screen picture below showing the approximate correct location to the private road (not shown on map pic) which will take us to your cabin?
My Response to you on my iPad from Toronto on 13 Oct 2017 was: "HI Diane, I'm glad you are excited it will be a great weekend. We don't have any guests before you arrive so you can arrive early if you like. All the beddings and towels are provided. ( just not beach towels)
I will have to check with Mchael about the directions-he does the driving, all I do is look at the beautiful scenery.
I'll let you know.
Thanks Sharon & Michael"
Then you asked me more questions plus repeated questions that could have been addressed by simply reading all the listing information, which you apparently either forgot, or did not read at all. (YOU STILL HAD MORE THAN A WEEK TO CANCEL IF YOU WERE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE INFORMATION I PROVIDED)
THE FOLLOWING IS A CUT & PASTE FROM THE PRIVATE MESSAGE YOU SENT US AFTER YOU CHECKED OUT EARLY IN THE MORNING AFTER YOUR TWO-NIGHT STAY:
*READER PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A DIRECT COPY AND PASTE RESPONSE OF QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS.
NOW THAT WE HAVE A CLEAR BACKGROUND PICTURE OF TRUE EVENTS LEADING UP TO YOUR ARRIVAL I WILL NOW ADDRESS YOUR PRIVATE COMMENTS TO ME THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE ACCURATELY REFLECTED IN YOUR ACTUAL REVIEW BASED ON HOW YOU HAVE INACCURATELY MISREPRESENTED ACTUAL EVENTS SO FAR.
"The very first sentence is that many things were positive and were true to the listing, and some were not and at the end of the day this is a business."
MY RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE QUESTION WAS THIS: It maybe a business to you which you may use to justify being overly critical using inaccurate information, as I have already illustrated. Every once in a while we get a guest who thinks its their "NOBLE" responsibility to appoint themselves an Airbnb host critic. And this is clearly the case.
You are complaining that AirBnb fee and cleaning fee you paid $368 to stay in the cabin for 2 nights.
First, when you book a cabin here, you are NOT just getting a cabin. You are getting the lake, the 104 acres, almost 6 KM of groomed, marked and labelled trails, 4 kayaks, 3 canoes, paddle boards, life jackets, free BBQ propane, FREE cook stove propane, FREE propane for lights, and the river, not to mention a fire pit, screened gazebo, and I could go on. And this is all for you to take full advantage to enjoy. Not to mention a greater chance than the Provincial Parks to experience the local wildlife as many of our guests do.
Our guests have seen: Moose, Deer, Bear, Grouse, Martins, Beavers, Otters, Ducks, Geese, Weasels, Mink, and other small birds.
Also what is NOT on the listing:
-When we wait up until 1:30 am for guests to arrive during a snow storm and we plow the road to make sure they can get in.
-We have pulled guests out from being stuck after going too far of the driveway.
-We provide FREE extra spring water when our guests run out.
-And as you know, when you didn't bring bug spray we gave you ours FREE.
-When we get text messages from guests at 10 pm at night for more wood because they didn't let him know in the day, and Michael gets out of bed, gets dressed and travels 0.5 KM along trails on the ATV to deliver firewood.
-When we start the wood stoves in the tents or the cabin to warm it up for our guests on cold days so that when they arrive, it is nice and toasty warm for them.
-We have spent a few hours actually teaching and helping some guests start fires in the stove and fire pit.
-And by the way, we pay extra fees for or guests to traverse the private road to and from our property because it is privately owned and adds more maintenance to the road.
-Again, we could go on....
Just a little ways away from our property, there is a very rustic old log hunting cabin listed on their site and for $100- you get an old log cabin with an out house and a propane stove and a bed. I believe you bring your sheets and towels I believe, there is no shower it is off grid and no one has a problem with them.
We provide a 4 burner stove a composting toilet, solar lights, propane light, a memory foam bed, beddings and comforter, nice furnishings, canoe, kayak, paddle boards, life jackets, a pond, 6km of groomed trails, lake front, and a river for your enjoyment.
We allow people to bring their pets. Really, and you are complaining about if you knew the shower in the cabin was not working (You did know) and you had to share a shower you would have brought flipflops? Well you are not the very first guest to use any shower, if you were that concerned you should have brought them anyway.
You claimed that did not learn upon your arrival that the shower in the cabin was not working, but as mentioned above, clearly I mentioned that we put in a new shower. (its not that it was not working we moved it to a separate building just as I said in the messages when you asked)
As for your accusation that you did not get change back from the $20 for wood, Michael said to you he had change at the cabin, but YOU said not to worry about it as you will likely want more wood the next day. He did offer to get you the change out of our cabin. Then we did not see you the rest of the time during your stay, and you left early the last day before we saw you. Michael told you that if you need ed ANYTHING, we were staying at another site at the lakefront on our property. There is absolutely NO reason to imply any wrong-doing on his part. I find your comments and you accusations exaggerated. insulting, and unprofitable for anyone reading them.
When you drive up the the entrance to our property, the sign on the tree says, "SHARON & MICHAEL", not Air BnB. This is our property that we have shed our blood, sweat and tears, literally in developing. This is our home. And when you come into someone else's home and property, you are to remember that whether you have paid or not, you are an invited guest and should respect and appreciate the privilege to be our guest. Why would you want us like a Hotel? When you go into anyone's house, you will see reflections or displays of that person's character, beliefs, personality and culture.
So, as for the religious tracts, we also provide Muskoka magazines, books, games, DVDs, a DVD player.
Of course no has ever had a problem before about any of these things. But these things are part of what makes us unique, just like a budda would be part of another home. Would you complain about that?
We are a totally off grid property and Michael runs the place himself: He does the laundry, the snow plowing, bush-clearing, trail grooming, grass cutting, tree removal, new trails, building, maintaining, wood supplying, equipment maintenance, cabin cleaning and linens,, and for all sites we have.
We do the best to list accurately all the information: We have 3 listings on 3 different sites, and we do the best to update all the information and is not thoroughly read and it is difficult being off-grid. We have to run the generator to use the internet and sometimes we do not want to disturb our guests, and the internet does not function well.
CLEARLY, YOU WENT BACK HOME AFTER YOU LEFT HERE AND LOOKED AT THE LISTING IN GREAT DETAIL TO NOW USE AGAINST US FOR SOME REASON, WHICH IS A MYSTERY TO US.
Most people come here to get rid of issues and relax and enjoy their time while they are here; But I think you left here carrying back with you more issues and concerns than when you arrived -Yes, you wasted your money.
PLEASE BE ADVISED:
MICHAEL AND I HAVE CONCLUDED THAT BASED ON YOUR BELOW QUOTED COMMENTS WRITTEN TO US PRIVATELY, YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO EXTORT MONEY BASED ON INFLAMMATORY CLAIMS:
HERE WHAT YOU WROTE IN CONCLUSION TO US PRIVATELY:
"We feel you need to let people know the solar lights are currently out of commission and that the shower option is currently a shared shower in a separate building. I have 14 days to post a review, if you make these changes, to render the posting more accurate to the current amenities, I can focus my review on the positive aspects.
If you don’t make any changes by October 31st I feel it is fair and helpful to future guests to post an honest review mentioning the good as well as the disappointing.
Additionally, if you see our point of view that things not being as advertised you might also consider refunding us a portion of the $368 we paid. We chose your place based on the description and drove 3+ hours and ended up let down to a certain extent.
Let me know what you think.
Diane and Paul
Diane and Paul, In the above quoted, cut & pasted communication above, you have clearly been deceptive and untruthful.
We will leave it up to the reader (if they have time) to draw there own conclusions about who is telling the truth.
