Our place is a very stylish top floor apartment close to the bus stop for the ski lift and a short 5 minute walk into town. It's homely, spotlessly clean, cosy and warm and it even has John Lewis linens and B&W sound system including AppleTV. We have a totally secure, lockable private garage for bikes, skis and cars, plus an additional car parking space if required. Samoëns is a beautiful alpine village. It has wonderful restaurants and a great family feel to it. The locals are very friendly!
Chalet D'Emma is a modern apartment built in 2015 in the pretty alpine village of Samoëns. We are a short walk from the village centre, tennis courts, swimming pool but to get to the ski lifts you need to take the bus (bus stop is a few steps from our front door, close to Hotel Niege et Roc) or drive your own car (there is free parking at the ski lift). White water rafting and bike hire (MTB/VTT and road bike) and pony trekking is available at numerous outlets in the village/nearby and there is a Carrefour supermarket about 600 meters away. Bikes can be stored in the secure, lockable garage but are not permitted in public areas of the building nor in the apartment please. Skis are also not permitted in the building so please leave them in the garage or hire a ski locker at the slopes: there are a few locker operators at Samoens 1600.
The apartment has two double bedrooms (one king, one small double) and a further bedroom in the eaves with two single beds. There is plenty of storage available but we also leave our own ski/climbing equipment at the house and simply request that you leave it where it is. There is a travel cot (please bring your own cot bedding) and a high chair which guests are welcome to use for little ones, plus a stair gate.
There is a WC and separate bathroom and the master bedroom has an ensuite shower and handbasin but no loo. The dining room table comfortably sits 6 people as does the balcony for which there is outdoor tables and chairs available. We are on the second floor and the apartment has an internal staircase; the stair gate is hung inside the door of bedroom three. There is also a sofa bed so if you want to use that too, just let us know and we will make sure bed linen is left out for you.
The kitchen is comprehensively equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer and the cupboards are well stocked with all the basics and more; please feel free to use whatever is there, but please also replace any items you use and make a contribution to the larder stocks before you leave? It's our second home not an investment property.
To get the best use out of the TV system (for UK or other non-French TV channels), download FilmOn TV app to you tablet or iPad and learn how to toggle the screen to AppleTV before you come. It's really easy. You can use our Netflix account and there are many many films on the AppleTV system, plus a large choice of CD/DVD/BluRays at the apartment.
We are London based but have a resort based assistant/housekeeper who will be happy help meet and greet. He is French but has some English - it would be worth brushing up your French to help you fit in. Keys will be sent to you in advance of your trip by registered mail, or if you are London based we can arrange a handover, otherwise you will meet Cedric in resort.
PLEASE DO NOT POUR COFFEE GROUNDS down the sink as it will block it. Pour away the coffee by all means but put the grounds in the bin.
It is really (and I mean really!) easy to lock yourself out of the apartment block as the main door is on a deadlock and if you lock yourself out it is a real problem so keep your keys on you at all times! Even when just popping out to the car! There is no easy way to get back into the apartment block once you are locked out.
If you need any cleaning products during your stay they are mostly in the bathroom or hall cupboard. We have most things.
- Parking for one car on site in addition to one secure lockable garage (not communal) for bike, ski or car storage
- The apartment is on the second floor and there is no lift
- No outdoor shoes to be worn in the apartment - ski boots can be left in the hallway inside the apartment on the mat
- No skis or bikes in the building please, they can go in the garage
- All radiators to be turned down to 1 before leaving and the central thermostat clicked down to 12 degrees
- Turn off the electric towel rail in the main bathroom
