Stephanie and her husband are, without exaggeration, excellent hosts. From the moment I arrived they were both working to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. They gave me time to unwind on my own (I arrived on bicycle and value the ability to do that after riding), we talked for a while, and they offered suggestions on where to eat and where to replenish my groceries.
When I returned from my afternoon out, they continued to offer me my personal time while being ready to chat whenever I wanted. They cooked me an okra, chicken, and rice stew with homemade, sun-dried tomato bread for dinner purely out of the goodness of their hearts.
The bedroom: If you’re a fan of quiet, darkness, and comfort while you sleep, that bedroom will not disappoint. That alone is worth the price you pay.
In the morning, Stephanie’s husband fixed me an excellent omelette with toast and they offered up as many Satsumas as I could carry with me for the road (having never eaten one before, that was another delightful quirk of my stay).
As I said, I’m traveling on a bicycle tour and I’ve been at it for over 11 weeks at this point. I’ve stayed with a great number of people along the way, but Stephanie and David are perhaps the best so far. If you’re traveling anywhere near Eunice, look them up.
