Perfect for those interviewing at Mayo!
My apartment is located about halfway between the Mayo Clinic outpatient buildings (Gonda and Mayo) and Mayo Clinic Hospitals so it is less than a 10 minute walk to either one. It is also close to downtown for restaurants and dining. I have a cat named Luna.
A private room with an air mattress is available, or you may sleep on the couch if you prefer.
I am a student at Mayo Med School and will likely be in the home quietly studying in the evening.
I have a spare room available for you to stay privately. It is currently set up as a study so you can relax comfortably in a lounge chair or do work at the desk. Sleeping accomodation is an air mattress, tall queen size. If you would prefer, I also have a twin sized ikea mattress that can be placed on the floor instead or you are welcome to sleep on the couch in the living room, it is very comfortable.
Shared spaces include the bathroom where you may leave some belongings, the living room with a TV with Hulu and Netflix, and a kitchen and dining room. You may use any kitchen appliances. Feel free to help yourself to coffee or tea and store anything in the refrigerator.
I have a private patio outside my apartment that you are welcome to use if it is warm enough to sit out there. This has a private apartment entrance.
I will likely be in the home studying or watching TV at night but can give you space if you would prefer to stay quietly. I have been living in Minnesota for 6 years and Rochester for more than a year and would also be happy to give you recommendations for things to do. I am a medical student at Mayo and would also be happy to share my experiences as a learner at the Mayo Clinic.
Late (even very late) arrivals can be accommodated. Don't worry about arriving in the middle of the night before your interview, I understand how these things work and will have things all set up for you. Early departures are also not a problem. I will probably be up already and can have coffee prepped for you.
You are welcome to leave your belongings during your interview and pick them up later in the day.
A washer and dryer are available in the building but I will need to reserve a time for you in advance. Please let me know if you will need this.
I cannot host for more than two nights in a row.
I am a second year medical student at Mayo Medical School. I've lived in Minnesota for a total of 6 years now but I originally grew up in Massachusetts. I love to travel and have been to every continent now except Antarctica.
Here in Rochester I love to go to new restaurants and I'd be happy to share suggestions with you.
As a host I'm excited to welcome you to Rochester and make you feel comfortable here. I'm specifically hoping to host medical students and residents interviewing at the Mayo Clinic and I'd be happy to tell you about my experiences as a learner here.
