Looking for the WOW factor? This stunning location will blow you away! A rustic, cosy New Zealand bach. If you want to escape the rat race... this is the place for you! Woodpecker Bay Bach is often fully booked - if your dates are not available - be sure to see my other ocean front property... Waihaha Bach.
The location right next to the crashing ocean is a breath taking feature of this property. The bach is rustic and quirky. Filled with lots of treasures from a bygone era... think 'simple family holiday from 60 years ago and you're getting close. Wifi, apple TV/Netflix and bluetooth speakers provide some modern conveniences.
A bach (pronounced 'batch') is a small, often very modest holiday home or beach house. Baches are an iconic part of New Zealand history and culture from mid 20th century.
SAVE THE PENGUINS - A portion of every booking is donated to the West Coast Penguin Trust - $1,220 raised & donated so far... The penguins thank you! There is also a donation box in the bach if you wish to donate some more :-)
Guests have total access to the whole property.
I live in Auckland - and will be available by email from the bach. There is no cell phone coverage here but there is a free phone for local calls. Free WIFI/fast broadband.
The flush toilet is located outside down a short garden path.
Water supply is rainwater collected the from the roof to a small tank, this is topped up from the garden hose (hose water drawn from a local waterfall) - I recommend you bring bottled water for drinking... though I always just drink water straight from the tap.
Bring all your food... the nearest shops are 30 minutes away in Westport.
Sorry - strictly no pets allowed due to conservation land lease.
Upon check-out: Please do your dishes and leave the bach tidy - we will do the rest.
Linen & towels provided - the bed will be made ready for your arrival.
Smoking outside only - please use ashtrays provided.
Outside (flush) toilet - mind your step at night, use torches provided.
*Directions and key instructions can be viewed in 'house manual' after your booking is confirmed - print or screen grab these for your car journey as there is little/no cell coverage on the road to the bach.
I live and work in Auckland - a great city, I love the relaxed easy living. For adventures I travel overseas or head south to the bach. I have two small dogs Lilly and Izzy who come to work with me each day - lucky them - lucky me!
I'm loving airbnb at the moment, the way it enables new connections and a whole new way of seeing foreign cities and countries. Please see both of West Coast listings - Woodpecker Bay Bach and Waihaha Bach :-)
