I was honestly pretty stunned by this review, not only because it seems so mean-spirited (dank hole, really?), But because Andrew never approached us with any of his concerns or issues.
Obviously, some of these things we don't have any control over, which is why we were careful to make sure that they were explicitly mentioned in the listing. For example, the fact that the trains are loud and that the neighborhood can be somewhat dangerous (however, gunshots every night is a ridiculous exaggeration). I'm not sure whether Andrew just didn't read the listing, but in any case, the location of the house is one reason why we're able to keep prices low.
As for the "open wires" in the kitchen, there is one broken outlet. We had an electrician come and he took the outlet cover off; however, he was unable to fix the problem that day and for some reason didn't put the outlet cover back on. These were not dangerous live wires. In any case, it was an oversight on our part to not to put the outlet cover back on and that has been remedied.
Finally, the mattress. This is the issue that upsets me the most that Andrew didn't just ask us about it. Because of that, I'm not sure which bed he had which makes it hard for us to fix the situation. All of the mattresses in the house are not the same and although we tested them, it's pretty hard to tell what it will be like to spend an entire night on the bed unless you actually do it. (Plus, everyone has different preferences in terms of firmness, materials, etc.) If Andrew had approached us about the situation, there are several solutions we could've offered him. For example, to try a different bed, or we could've swapped out with one of the extra mattresses we have, or given him a foam bed topper. Instead, he chose to say nothing and then publicly slam us later, which feels pretty unfair. For what it's worth, there have been no other complaints about the mattresses.
