We came over from Australia to visit family and decided to do an overnighter in Gura Humourului. There were 6 adults and 4 children under 5yrs.
We were very last minute in our Request to Book, so we looked up Mihai's number on his official (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page. Mihai was very prompt, professional and polite. He arranged for a lady called Ioana to meet us there and set us up. She was a gem.
The location is hard to find without (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps - there are a few conflicting addresses online but this is the correct one:
Casa de vacanța Lucian,
Strada Gheorghe Lazar 26,
The house is basic and honest. 4 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There is an outside eating area with a wood stove (we made mici on it, smell was incredible!), an upstairs outdoor seating area with a nice view of the mountains and the town. There is a small kitchen (Romanians are used to that) that seated all 10 of us. No 'dining room' to us westerners, but by Romanian standards that is normal.
Beds were comfortable, all doubles (some bigger than others). Didn't use showers so I can't comment, but they were free standing with no bath base. Each room had a TV.
There are a few quirks to the place, but if you are open to that, it shouldn't bother you: There are dogs that live outside, but they didn't bark or bother us. The kitchen sink had a tendency to back up if you tipped heavy content down it (i.e. Coffee grounds etc) but it was easily fixed.
It was a great place to stay in for our time and I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in and use as a base.
