Our home is located right outside of Chico city limits, just 10 minutes from downtown, Chico State University, and Sierra Nevada Brewery. We own 3 acres along Little Chico Creek with gardens and a small orchard. Our home looks down on an open field. You’ll love our home because it is cozy and quiet, yet close to town. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, University guests, and business travelers. We are a retired teacher and a retired wildlife biologist.
Your room is furnished with family heirloom antique furniture from the 1880's. The bed is full size, but they made them shorter then! If you are over 6' 1" tall you may have to sleep diagonally! A full bath with combination tub and shower, and lots of Mexican tile, is located just outside your guest room door. Two doors that lead to outside porches are also close at hand.
You are more than welcome to coffee, tea, fruit, bagels and dry cereal for breakfast in the kitchen. If you happen to be here on a Sunday morning, I often make whole wheat waffles topped with fruit from our orchard. The living room usually has a wood fire going in the wood stove during the winter, and the courtyard patio is always available.
One of us will always be available to help out if any problems arise. We can also provide information about local points of interest, as well as directions to just about anywhere in town. If we forget to offer, just ask!
I am a retired educator who loves to travel, meet new people, read historical novels, and play jug band music. I am married to Rich, a retired wildlife biologist, who loves to sail and play Irish music. Our musical interests occasionally intersect at the delta blues! Together we garden, walk, enjoy quirky movies, watch out for aging parents, and try to keep up with the ever changing world about us.
