Welcome to our home across the street from the Lake where living is like vacationing! A beautiful park and beach are 5 houses from our door. 1 mile to airport but not under flight path. You can swim or use the kayak & canoe. Your suite with private entrance is on the lower level of our home. There are 2 bedrooms, a 3/4 bath, kitchenette, laundry room, family room with fireplace & 3 extra beds. We live above & come down for laundry & our office, but can do so without entering your rooms.
Your suite is a 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor of our home. You have almost the entire floor to yourself. We access our laundry room and office on occasion but can do so without running into you, unless you happen to be in the hallway. You have 2 bedrooms; both have a queen and single bed. If you will only be using the queen bed, you may find it is convenient to use the twin bed to lay open your suitcases.
Extra people can be accommodated in the family room. There is a full size rollaway bed with a feather topper and a twin size daybed with a twin size trundle underneath. We can sleep 10 people in beds but keep in mind there is only one bathroom.
We live up stairs. We try to tread softly, but you can occasionally hear us moving around. Guests have said, it's not a bother.
The house is situated across the street from Angle Lake. You can’t see the lake from the house, but you can get a peak at it, if you come upstairs to the big deck. There is a BBQ, a swing and ping pong table you can use. Five houses east is access to the neighborhood private beach lot & a public park is just 5 houses to the west.
We are 1 mile from the airport but not under the flight path, so it’s relatively quiet.
We offer airport pick up for $10 a carload ($20 from 10pm to 7am) and free parking during your stay. Long term parking while traveling is $5 per day. If available I will taxi you around for 20% less than Uber estimate.
The ground floor of our home is for guests. The private entrance opens into the family room with a small kitchenette attached. Just off that is one bedroom. Down the hall is our office, a laundry room, a 3/4 bathroom and your second bedroom. We come down occasionally to use our office and laundry but we can do that without entering your family room space which can be closed off from the hall with bifold doors.
Clean towels, pillows and sheets always, with plenty of extras if needed.
If you have a large party, you can extend into the family room which can sleep up to 4 more people. Just outside the bedroom door in the kitchenette area is a day bed with trundle underneath that can be used in place or moved wherever. In the family room are 4 reclining movie chairs. A rollaway double bed with a feather topper can be set up there. But keep in mind the family room is your egress for your apartment, so privacy will be limited.
There is a small kitchenette (8' x 9') between the family room and the bedroom with a microwave and refrigerator. There is a kitchen counter with a sink, cupboards and drawers with condiments, plenty of dishes and utensils. There is a toaster, hot water pot, George Forman grill, a small coffee pot for decaf and a blender. You can use the big BBQ upstairs on the deck. The stove is in the laundry room.
Down the hall painted as a stream is the laundry room, the 3/4 bathroom and the second bedroom.
The laundry room has a washer, dryer, a gas stove and a double sink. There is no dishwasher, but you. There is also a Keurig coffee maker. Coffee is complimentary.
The suite is wonderfully cool in summer with no need for air conditioning. We also have fans and both bedrooms have windows. Heat is controlled upstairs but you can shut ceiling heat vents for less heat or use rolling radiators for more warmth.
You have your own entrance at the back of the carport (follow the orange arrows) into the apartment’s family room so you can come and go as you wish. The door is coded so no key is needed. You can check yourself in.
Continue through the carport to the stairs up to the back yard and huge deck with a porch swing, a small fire pit, a barbecue, badminton and ping pong. You are welcome to use all.
Close the gate behind you so the dog doesn't escape.
You will be greeted warmly and shown around, if I am home. If not, you may check yourself in using the combination lock on the door and a detailed house information guide on the table.
We will leave you to enjoy your apartment on your own. We may come down to the office or laundry but you won’t likely see us unless you are in the hallway.
BnB stands for ‘Bed, no Breakfast'. I don’t fix you breakfast, but you will find oatmeal packets and frozen waffles, peanut butter and syrup in the fridge and the coffee is on us.
Don't be shy about asking for our help. Call or text me and if I don't respond immediately, ring the interior door bell next to the door to the upstairs.
I come and go and am often not home, but love interacting with guests, if you desire. That is what the BnB experience is all about.
If you have time to recreate, I offer lake experiences for a nominal fee. I can accompany you on a swim across the lake (and back) or take you on a kayak or canoe tour of the angle. We can extend your adventure to celebrate your accomplishment with a picnic and fire on the private beach. If you would enjoy this, ask me early on to reserve time for you.
We live upstairs. We have no children at home, but 2 cats rule (Butter Nuggets and Feral.) They mostly hide from guests. Our Collie dog, King, is friendly and will practically fix you a cup of tea. Animals stay upstairs and outside in the back yard. You do not need to encounter them, if you do not wish. They are restricted from your ground floor apartment. Note to those with allergies; although pets are restricted from bedrooms at all times, they have been busted sneaking into the hall and family room when someone leaves the door open. On rare occasions we allow guests to stay with dogs. If you wish to chance it, I will clean like crazy before you come. So far, one guest with cat allergies had an allergic reaction while another did not.
PLEASE let me know in advance ASAP the time of day you plan to check in AND the time of day you plan to check out so I can schedule life around cleaning times. Check out time is noon, unless by prior arrangement. You can self check-in anytime after 3 PM through your own entrance on the RIGHT side of the house through the carport to the door at the BACK (follow orange arrows).
Keep written communication between us through the Airbnb site, as it alerts me 3 different ways so I am sure to get your message. Also, if I forget details, I can quickly review messages. It is a good idea to change your settings on your Airbnb site to forward any messages to you by text so you don't miss any last minute messages from me. You can also call me, but if you don’t reach me, leave a message on Airbnb site. If you can’t get online with the Airbnb App, text me.
LANGUAGE: Please be polite and use civil language, as voices in the family room and your hallway can carry upstairs.
HOURS: Moderate Quiet is requested after 9 pm weekdays & 11 pm weekends. Note: if you are in the family room or your bedroom, you can chat & watch TV. That noise level does not carry to our bedroom. If you are in the hall talking, voices carry upstairs.
MOVIES: There are plenty of DVDs to watch and free ones on Dish TV. Please don't order any that require payment.
BE GREEN & CLEAN: Please observe recycling rules and conserve water. If you mess it up, clean it up. Wash your dishes. If you break or lose something, tell us. We don't care much about things, but we want to know to keep things nice for others.
BEDS: Please sleep between the sheets, not between or on the comforters. Leave the beds unmade upon departure so we know which beds you used and which linens to wash.
FOOD: You may cook on the stove in the laundry room but BE SURE to run the fan while cooking. If you need some utensil or food item, ask us as we will happily lend you things from our kitchen. There is a BBQ on our deck you can use.
BREAKFAST: Limited snacks are available in the freezer (usually waffles). Cupboards are stocked with essentials, condiments, peanut butter, popcorn, cocoa, coffee and tea.
BOATING: A kayak is in the carport and a canoe is locked to the neighbors fence next to the beach lot. If you want to take them out, tell me so I can help you access them and assure you have life vests (required) and instruction. Be sure to sign the waiver in the guide book first.
CARS: If you are leaving your car here for storage, be sure to sign the waiver and leave the keys.
PETS: If you wish to bring a pet, you must describe your pet and get pre-approval. A pet fee may apply. Do not leave pets unattended in the back yard. It is important to let me know, if you are taking dogs to the back yard so I can secure the cats inside first. One of my cats tries to attack dogs. I would rather not have to see who wins that contest.
If leaving pet alone in the apartment, rollup the carpet to avoid ruining it in case of an accident. You can ask me to let your pet out occasionally. They should not be alone longer than 3 hours without going out. I will take dogs to the park for a long walk for $10.
My husband Jonathan and I are a fun and loving couple... and funny too. (well, we think we're hilarious) We love our house and our neighborhood (big back yard with ping pong & badminton, the lake and the park each 100 paces from our door). We think it is all too wonderful to keep to ourselves. Such a great place should be shared. And in sharing we are blessed by meeting amazing people. We loved hosting kids studying here from other countries. We hosted 29 over the years. We hope to visit them all when we retire.
My husband loves to cook and golf. I am trying to invent a device with the help of University of Washington students to help dementia caregivers keep track of their patients. I am fascinated about health, archaeology and marketing.
Jonathan is fascinating, able to speak on almost any topic and is (as he puts it) full of useless facts. He wants to learn guitar. I want to improve my Italian language skills. We are positive and accepting people. Our family motto is; to respect, protect and empower.
We live across from the cleanest swimming lake in Seattle. I swim across it (and back) in the summer. Jonathan would love to golf more than work, but for now Boeing wins out for his time as a project manager. We have been married 30 years (thanks to the golden rule, which we follow.)
We lived in Italy for three years, while in the Navy. We have great photos and love to talk about it. We are in our 60’s with a daughter in her 20’s who lives in North Seattle. She was a ballerina, a boxer and a climber. Now she is getting her doctorate in psychology. We have hosted many people in our home over the years and have had wonderful reviews from them. People kept saying, you should open a B&B. Voila. Here we go, a BnB (Bed, No Breakfast.)
