Comfortable studio in the newly renovated "historic" Register building in downtown Grinnell. Located near restaurants, a grocery store, shopping, and 1 1/2 blocks from the Grinnell College Campus. A comfortable alternative to a standard hotel room and includes WIFI, bottled water, coffee, kitchen, and coin-op laundry. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
This studio is located in the historic Grinnell Register building. Once upon a time, Grinnell had two newspapers–the Herald and the Register. They merged in 1936. This was the home of the Register, and
the building dates back to 1914. The owner of the paper had an apartment upstairs for his family. This building has similarities to Merchants National Bank down the street, which was built that same year. After 1936 the building housed a doctor and in recent years several gift shops were located on the main floor. I purchased this building in 2014 and my husband and I spent two years renovating it into nine apartments. We repurposed as much of the original woodwork and structure as we could. This building is full of charm and the abundant, natural daylight makes this studio a comfortable place to stay while visiting Grinnell.
