An idyllic mix of town and country, our home is set on 2+ acres of rolling hills and forest, while being just over 1-mile to the center of Norwich and less than 3-miles to Hanover. Our cozy set of rooms--a bedroom and a connected office/sitting area--is located on its own floor and is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, or families (we have a full-sized crib available as well). With hiking trails, amenities, and a sublime location, we think our place is pretty special. We hope you will too!
Our home is located on 2+ acres, very close to the Norwich town center (just over a mile), but far enough "up the hill" to feel totally secluded--a juxtaposition which we absolutely love! In the summer months, we have a large deck out back to eat "al fresco" and numerous blackberry and blueberry bushes yielding delicious finger fruit all summer long.
You will feel like you have the house to yourself as you enter your cozy set of rooms located on the first floor and separate from the rest of the house. The private bedroom with a queen bed is connected to a sitting area/office with an oversized chair, couch, and a desk. Adjacent to the sleeping area is a large alcove (where you can see a crib in the photos) with a hanging bar for clothes and a small dresser. (If you do not have a child with you, this area can be closed off with sliding vertical blinds for added privacy...or just so you don't have to look at your luggage!). Finally, the connected bathroom includes a full-sized bathtub, shower, large plush towels, and a vanity. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, and a toothbrush are included for your added convenience as well.
There are three hiking trails within a 5 min. walk from our home that are just glorious in all seasons. In addition, we have compiled an extensive list of things to do in the area which include both popular attractions as well as "local gems". Plus, being as centrally located as we are, most activities are within a 2 min-10 min. drive from our home. (We can also recommend places to visit/mountains to ski/trails to hike that are further out and well worth the drive, depending on your interest and availability).
FOR FAMILIES WITH A YOUNG CHILD: We include a full-sized crib in the bedroom area, complete with all baby accoutrements including a mattress pad, sheets, video monitor, and a white noise machine. Having traveled with our son when he was younger, we remember how helpful (read: sanity-saving) it was when we did not have to lug sleep supplies with us so we are happy to provide them to you, free of cost, of course! We also have a BabyJogger stroller that is available for use (and covers the myriad hiking trails within walking distance of our home quite nicely!)
*We also have a queen-sized air mattress which can fit in the attached alcove or in the sitting room, if you have an older child.
Please note: the ceiling in the bedroom portion of the room is 6'4 (the ceiling in the sitting area is 7'0, however)---a hazard of being built on a mountain!
We love meeting new people and are happy to hang out over some tea (or a beer/glass of wine) in our kitchen...but sometimes toddler-wrangling takes priority over socializing so if you would like to come up and chat, just ask. :) (That said, certainly don't feel obligated to come talk to us if you'd rather enjoy the quiet serenity of your rooms!)
The Queen bed sleeps 2 people comfortably (VERY comfortably, from what we hear), but if you have more people in your party, we can also fit a Queen sized air mattress in the alcove or office/sitting area as well. ($25/person above the first two). **Children sleeping in the crib are included in the basic nightly room rate**
- Since we have a 3-year old, we request that guests keep noise to a minimum before 7am and after 9pm. In order to facilitate cleaning between guests, please strip the linens from the beds and place any used towels on the bathroom floor.
I am a spirited Chicago native in her mid 30s living in Vermont with my husband and our 3-year old son. As far as our interests, they are rather eclectic and include playing the banjo and guitar, making homemade pickles, board games, yoga, meditation, exploring new places, and hiking whenever possible--often with our rambunctious and adventuresome toddler. (I am also an unabashed and joyful Francophile). Despite being enthusiastic and passionate by nature, we love quiet and serenity just as much as we enjoy an engaging conversation over a cup of tea or red wine. :) If you have any additional questions about us, I am more than happy to answer them, so feel free to ask. Thanks so much and we look forward to hearing from you!
