Hastings bonfire night is coming up! Join in and then retreat to the calmness of our light-filled 2 bedroom flat. The beautiful Markwick Terrace is a Grade 2 listed Regency classic, perched high up in St Leonards, but only 15 mins walk from Warrior sq station. Park easily and for free directly outside. Great views of sky, sea and nearby Edwardian gardens. It is super peaceful, airy and bright in the summer, and cosy in winter.
This is a lovely flat with 2 bedrooms, a large double room and a single or twin bedroom where you will enjoy complete privacy and comfort. Ideally suited for a couple or 3 people, it can fit 4 if necessary.
It is in a really beautiful street at the highest point of St Leonard's, a planned Regency town by Decimus Burton (who designed much of Kew gardens and the beautiful glass palm house there).
The flat is a fully equipped comfortable space, full of light and sunshine in the summer and cosy in the winter. We look over a shared Edwardian garden used by local residents. Beyond this and across the rooftops is the sea.
The flat is on the second floor, and its height provides great views with large sash windows which bring loads of sunlight in.
A double bedroom faces west at the back of the flat with great views of the sunset, and a front bedroom can be used either as a single or the bed splits into two proper beds for a twin room.
The building is quiet with considerate neighbours, and the area is very peaceful. It is a restful place to spend a few days. Guests say they find it a soothing and cosy home from home.
With free parking immediately outside the flat it is easy for drivers, those arriving by train, have a fifteen minute walk from St Leonards Warrior Sq or a small taxi ride.
You will have great privacy with sole use of the whole flat reached by a shared staircase. The flat is 2 floors up from the raised front door. The living room and kitchen are one space.
The kitchen is well equipped, with gas hob and electric oven, a washing machine and full equipment for cooking, with a juicer and smoothie maker for healthy breakfasts. The bathroom has a comfortable bath and lovely power shower. I provide plenty of towels and shampoo etc for guests. Both bathroom and kitchen are highly functional but I intend to refurbish them to be more in keeping with the elegance of their setting!
I am happy to hand over keys and leave you to your privacy or tell you more about the area if you wish. Once you book and we know your arrangements I will plan to be there at an agreed time to let you in, or will arrange for a friend to greet you. You are welcome to use the basic foods that are always in the kitchen; coffee, tea, pasta and olive oil, and other basics.
It works best for me if the booking can be for two nights minimum.
We provide Wifi, a radio, an iPhone 5 charger. At the moment we have no DVD player. We also have a BOSE bluetooth speaker so you can play your own music via Bluetooth connection.
No smoking, no pets, consideration to neighbours,
I am an architect and run my own practice with my partner in North London. I grew up in Hastings and have strong links with the town. I stay there often to see friends and family and gain some peace and quiet. I really love the place, and being near the sea, and can honestly say that being in the flat on a summers morning is instantly calming and reviving. I love being able to see the sea, and enjoy the break from London noise. Hastings is a terrific and friendly town, very mixed and full of activity and things to do. During the summer it can be hard to leave on a beautiful morning, but a kind of commuting to London is possible.
I have enjoyed being a host over the last couple of years. Airbnb guests have been consistently friendly, reliable and careful. It is nice to know that the flat is in use and being enjoyed. A great place for a few days break.
