Booked in here last minute as we were struggling to find anywhere else at a reasonable price at short notice. Perhaps that is a good place to start, good price at £120 for the night for a 3-bed house however that is pretty much as far as it goes.
Darren was pleasant enough and accommodating to our early check in requirement however I emailed prior to booking asking if there were any beds in the property as I couldn’t see any in the pictures to which I was told there was a double and a few singles. On arrival, the house was pretty much empty except for a single camp bed in each room. When I questioned about the bed situation he said he did have a double bed but did not offer an explanation as to where it was. :/ There was also no bedding which turned into a bit of a chilly night.
There is a kitchen available however again there is absolutely nothing in the cupboards – not even one cup to make a glass of water! We bought some basic items from the shop to make a cup of tea in the morning and this was not possible. I appreciate some may not want to fill there cupboards but I think it is unreasonable to expect people to bring their kitchen crockery and utensils with them for a night if you are offering a kitchen. Fridge had also been turned off and smelt very mouldy.
Cleanliness was probably one of the biggest issues - the house is crying out for a good clean – I am not usually one to pick on small details or houses not being spotless but even for me it was too dirty. Hair and dirt on the bathroom floor along with little clumps of what I can only guess was tiny rodent faeces. I wasn’t expecting luxury for the price but a quick whip round with the hoover and a wipe down would have gone a long way – not to mention the mouldy stained shower curtain was enough to put the others off showering in the morning. None of us enjoy cleaning but if you’re paying for a cleaning charge you expect the place to be at least clean before you arrive – why not hire a cleaner for a couple of hours? Sorry Darren you seem like a nice guy but perhaps these notes can be taken on board to help make your property a bit more pleasant for others to stay in in future.
