This is a very spacious, comfortably appointed and superbly located apartment, which is nicer than the pictures indicate. The master bedroom and eat-in kitchen both have incredible views of the river, and the other bedroom and living room also open onto a continuous balcony that also has a partial but nice view of the river. It is a very easy walk to the train station and to various forms of public transport, and a 1 minute walk to the river. The apartment has excellent closet space, including a whole separate storage room, and excellent wifi. It is also close to many shops/restaurants and is 5 minutes from the incredible Manor grocery/department store. FM made the welcome and departure very easy.
A lot of pros and some major cons with regard to this flat. On the positive side: excellent location, very central - close to the central train station, to the lake and to the city center. Very nice appartment, much space, much light, very nice view. Functional though rather basic furniture, fairly well equipped kitchen (washing machine and tumbler, dish washer, microwave). Relatively quiet for Geneva standards, you hear the cars though - but not the neigbours. On a more negative note: cleanliness was an issue. The flat would need to be thoroughly cleaned. When I arrived, the cleaning lady was there and she did the best she could in the two hours she had at her disposal, but it was not enough. My feet turned black very quickly as soon as I started to walk around barefoot. The inside of the kitchen drawers were sticky, and there was quite a lot of dust. The balcony was too dirty to be used. However, the biggest problem in my view was the very erratic and irregular communication on the host's side. After a very nice first contact, where the host reacted promptly and amicably, I soon turned quite nervous because my queries before coming to Geneva were largely left unattended (which was all the more problematic since I was travelling with a little baby). I had to write the same message several times over several days and try out various channels (sms, AirBnb chat, telephone) in order to get answers to my questions, some of them were responded to (after some time), others were left unanswered. Likewise, the host did not inform me about how to get inside the apartment building (code at the main door), nor on which floor the apartment was located. I had to wait outside with the baby until a neighbour walked out of the building and let me enter it so I could start looking for the right floor (4th floor by the way, left and again left when you get out of the elevator). I tried to call the host upon arrival, but I did not reach her. She called back eventually, but too late - everything had been settled by then. It was a shame, because I'm sure the host, whom I did not meet, is a very likeable person; a few quick messages and the right information at the right time would have spared us the bad impression, and some quite unnecessary stress. One of the beds collapsed during our stay. Fortunately, the host reacted this time and sent her brother (a very nice and reliable person, who also quickly brought a drying rack for clothes when I asked for one) who came to fix the bed after a couple of days (had to sleep on a sloped mattress for 3 or 4 nights though)...
Dear Sophie, I am sorry to read your comment. The previous host left late, less than 2 hours before you arrived and has left the keys in the wrong place and the maid as you said did her best to clean the place for you to be able to stay in. For the bed, as soon as you informed me I asked my brother to come and he arrived the day after. Regarding the code and the floor as well as internet code etc, it is all detailed on the presentation of the flat. I had told you that I was in Ivory Coast... However, I thank you for your remarks and I will address what I feel need to be sorted out. Thanks
This is a great apartment in a great location. We would have rated it much higher than three stars had we not been required to move in the middle of our stay. We rented the apartment for three months. A month in, F.M. let me know that there would be some inspection in connection with her father's estate and that for at least a day we would have to remove all of our personal belongings from the apartment. This created an issue given that we came prepared for a 3-month stay. Subsequently, F.M. also told me that it was unclear whether she had the right to sublet the apartment in the first place or whether the landlord would just take it back. (Apparently, her father, who was deceased, was the tenant named on the lease). So we wound up having to scramble to find a new place. Which is not easy in Geneva.
