My Federation house is 10 km from the CBD and is located in a quiet and leafy suburb. The private room has a comfy queen size bed with wardrobe and drawer space. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the Ivanhoe Shopping strip and to the railway station. I am close to the Austin Hospital, Latrobe University and the Yarra River.
My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
The room is bright and airy and quite spacious. You can have use of a part of the wardrobe as well as the four dressing table drawers. There are spare blankets if needed. The room has AC and heating. The bathroom and toilet are along the hallway and are shared with the owner of the house. You are welcome to use either of the two dressing robes which are in the room.
As a guest you have access to all rooms except my bedroom. The outdoor deck is an ideal place to relax after a day's sightseeing or being at the tennis. You are welcome to use the BBQ and I can provide space for you to store food. Use of kitchen can be negotiated. Free access to Wi Fi.
As a retiree I will often be home, but I do like a walk in the morning as well as attending to my other outside commitments like volunteering with Zoos Victoria. There are two living areas in the house so if you prefer to relax in private, that can easily be accommodated. I will be happy to assist you if you wish to know what sights to see around Melbourne or if you need help with anything.
As it is a family home there might be some occasions when other members of the family are here for a meal or for some other reason. Wherever possible I would notify you in advance. There are also times when I look after a friendly burmese cat when its owners are away.
- Smoking is allowed outside on the back deck.
- Please respect my privacy and I will respect yours.
- Please respect my home and look after my possessions. If you wish to use the kitchen to prepare a meal, please ask to avoid a situation where we are all trying to cook at the same time.
- Please do not invite others to the house unless it has first been negotiated with me.
Like everyone else I love travel, so have been to many places. Now my travel destinations tend to be to experience more remote places to see the fauna and flora, with Sumatra and Africa being favourite destinations. I'm hoping to add Costa Rica and Galapagos to the list in the next year.
As a volunteer with Zoos Victoria I meet many of the local people as well as the International visitors and love introducing them to our own unique inhabitants. I also have a keen appreciation of art and Melbourne can definitely cater for this interest. I am happy to share with you my love of Melbourne and Australia and if needed will happily discuss your Australian destinations.
I have a loving and supportive family including two energetic grandchildren with whom I love doing things.
My rustic garden is home to many of the smaller honeyeaters and I often have visits from the magpies and the currawongs.
I miss not having either a dog or a cat and hope to rectify this soon.
