Our studio is above the garage, separate from the house, with its own entrance. It is suitable for singles, couples and families with one child.
It has a private bathroom downstairs, accessed via the outside staircase.
Tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided (see Detailed Description).
We're close to surf and harbour beaches, Bondi Junction shopping and transport hub, bars and restaurants.
We're 12-15 minutes walk from Bondi Junction train station, and there are buses around the corner.
The studio has a queen-size bed and an ottoman, which opens into a single bed, suitable for one (small) person. We can also provide a portable cot for an infant at no extra charge.
There is a freestanding air-conditioner and a fan to keep you cool in summer, and an electric heater for the cooler months.
The studio is equipped with an electric jug, toaster and microwave, plus crockery and utensils. We provide plunger and instant coffee, teabags, milk and sugar. The milk is in the fridge downstairs in the garage, where you can keep your personal supplies, as well.
For longer stays, we'll offer you clean bed linen and towels after a week.
You'll check in through the main house. From then on, your private entrance is via the well-lit back lane and through the back gate. The studio is all yours for the duration of your stay and we won't enter it, except in emergencies.
You are welcome to use the pool, between September and May, up to 10pm. Please read the pool rules under House Rules.
We live in the main house and are happy to answer any questions you have about the area, but will respect your privacy. There are also several guidebooks in the studio.
If you need an earlier check-in, please ask. Even if the room isn't ready, you can drop off your bags and explore the neighbourhood - or go to the beach! - while you wait. The same applies to check-out - we often need to access the studio at 11am to make it ready for other guests but you can leave your bags here.
We have a dog, who rarely leaves his bed except to go walkies, and a cat, who pops in twice a day to be fed. They don't go upstairs to the studio.
Note that the floor creaks in a couple of spots when you walk on it.
We ask that guests let us know if they won't arrive at the agreed check-in time, eg, because their flight is delayed. We always aim to be available to welcome guests but, unlike a hotel, we are not here 24/7. If we know you are running late and we have to go out, we can make arrangements for collection of keys.
The studio is strictly smoke-free but you can smoke outside.
To conserve energy, please turn off the air conditioner, fan and lights - except the outside lights - before you go out. Also close windows in case it rains.
Sorry, but guests aren't allowed to entertain friends in the studio.
As we live in a quiet residential street, we ask that you keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.
Between September and May, the pool is available for your use until 10pm. Towels are provided. (The pool isn't available during winter, as the sun is too far north for the solar heating to be effective.)
We are paranoid about the possibility of children drowning, so make sure the pool safety gate is kept closed at all times.
Please don't take glass or other breakables into the pool area - only plastic.

We are a couple of semi-retired journalists, who now mainly work from home. Kerrie is also a recently fledged prehistoric archaeologist. We have three adult children — one son lives on the NSW south coast, the other is in Sydney and our daughter is in London — and two young grandchildren. We share our house with a much-loved dog and cat, who are under strict instructions to stay out of the bedrooms! Our interests include swimming, surfing, canoeing, walking, seeing birds and animals in the wild, attending live theatre, ballet and concerts (classical and trad jazz), reading, writing and playing Words With Friends (obsessively). Passionate travellers, our positive experiences as Airbnb guests encouraged us to start sharing our home with others.
