This house was the original farmhouse this neighborhood was subdivided from. It has been almost totally updated while preserving the original features that made it great. I travel 4-5 months out of the year, and find hotels so sterile! When you stay here I offer you the same things I'd want when away from home. I love to cook and as such there is a fully functional kitchen with a really good stove and range, as well as many small kitchen appliances at your disposal. To make your travel easier, you may use the stocked pantries and household items subject to the limits in the house manual and rules. There is a printer/copier/scanner for your use, an exercise bike, all the cables you'll need to hook up your music, laptop, et cetera, and cable TV in the master bedroom and living room. In the summer, feel free to eat produce from the gardens - someone's gotta do it!
You will have access to the first and second floors, basement laundry, deck and yards. The bathroom is on the second floor with the bedrooms. There is a detached garage that is not included. There is wood for the woodburning stove or small bonfires in the backyard fire pit at your disposal as well.
Neighbors are available to help if you have difficulties with your stay, and you can call or email me anytime.
A nice grocery store, Gorman's, is 1 mile east on Grand River Avenue. There are good restaurant options in a 2 mile radius. This is a walk-able and bike-able neighborhood- many do.
Want to host a small family or work retreat up to 12 people? A family holiday where you can cook and host like normal people? That'd be great! Or, just want to live like normal while in town on business, by your self or with your team? Right on. Regarding events and parties: You want a place for a weekend boozer? Bachelor party? Not here, thank you. This is my home, but I travel a lot, so look forward to sharing it with great people while I'm away. Please help keep the house clean and remove your shoes. The floors were washed before you arrived; your socks should be safe. It always frustrates me to have to buy all the basics to cook when I travel, so you don't have to as I am happy to share these with you while you are here, including extensive gluten-free options. The pantries and kitchen are generally stocked with basics, and everything unlocked on the main floor is available for you to use at your own risk- no need to buy salt, spices, oil, coffee, tea, etc. There are appliances in the basement for your use, but please respect the shelves labeled as private and let those be; they are clearly marked. I live in this house, and also rely on the same pantries. Think of the golden rule here. If you use something up or break something by accident, replace it or drop me a note and we’re good. Please no candles. If you must, you will find a couple of oil lamps at child-safe heights in the dining room. If you use the grill, turn off the propane at the bottle when you are done. Lastly, pick some of the flowers and enjoy the grounds. That’s what they’re for!
