The Barrack Street Colonial Cottage is a one bedroom heritage cottage, close to CBD, Salamanca, cafes, restaurants, shops and transport. It has all the comforts of home including a small garden. Relax by the open fire, cook your own meals, enjoy the private courtyard, or snuggle in the quaint attic bedroom. Great for couples, and business travelers. Not suitable for young children or guests with limited mobility due to the stairs.
This gorgeous cottage is set up with everything that you need for a very comfortable stay. Originally built for a ships captain in the mid 1800's, it gives a taste of what life was like for a working class family in the days of early settlement. We are an accredited tourism business with Tasmanian Tourism Industry Council, and have formal approval to host Short Term Accommodation from Hobart City Council.
Guests have exclusive use of the cottage, courtyard garden and off street carpark (located almost directly across the street).
I live around 20 minutes drive away but can help out if needed. I will be at the cottage from time to time completing the exterior painting, tending the garden etc., but will mostly try to avoid being there when people are staying to respect their privacy.
Don't park illegally on the street - the local parking inspectors are meticulous.
- Steep stairs mean that the cottage is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Children would need constant supervision.
