Welcome to Medellin Meadows! Our charming 2 bedroom guesthouse is located in the middle of our 23 acre farm. Currently the property is being used for hay but we occasionally have cattle (and one donkey). We have 4 gated pastures with water and a barn with an additional fenced area to allow horses temporarily during your visit.
Check out the PDF of additional services we offer named "Date Night Rentals" in our photos!
(Update: Pool closing late September 2017.) Our guesthouse is perfect for that weekend getaway out of the city! Between hiking (Old Rag Mountain, Skyline Drive, White Oak) fall festivals (Apple Harvest Festival, Hoover Wine Fest, and Blue Grass Festival) at Graves Mountain Lodge, Wineries (Early Mountain, Prince Michelle, DuCard, Sweely) and a BRAND NEW BREWERY Bald Top there is plenty to do! We highly recommend the farmers markets on Saturdays and relaxing by our pool during the summer season. We have a small pond on the property- we aren't sure if there are fish but we know there is a snapping turtle! It is a little ways from the guesthouse (we can drive you there on the gator). We also love our beautiful mountain views from the top of the driveway.
About us: My husband and I live next door with our son, Ryker. The guesthouse connects through a breezeway. We can be as involved or uninvolved as you prefer during your visit.
About the house: Our guesthouse has a very country cottage vibe. The two bedrooms are located upstairs with a full bath. Brand new carpet and new paint. Downstairs you will find a kitchenette and a large living room with a rock fireplace. We have Direct TV and a PlayStation to play DVDs. The internet comes from our house and can be spotty- but our guests have said they logged on from their rooms. The appliances in the house are not new- but they are in working condition. We do allow pets on an approval basis- we have a 7 year old boxer but he will be in our house unless our pets become friends. Our property is set up to potentially allow for horses. We can also always set you up with a horseback riding tour (rates change seasonally). We have a courtyard directly out of the back door which connects to our home- feel free to use the grill! There is a 30,000 gallon in-ground chlorinated pool that has child proof gates. We have 8 commercial pool chairs, plenty of floats and a speaker system you can Bluetooth your phone to with music. Upon request we can set up a badminton net (warning: my husband is competitive and may try to challenge you to a game!) if there is anything else that you need we are steps away so don't hesitate to ask.
Weddings: We do not permit receptions indoors and insist on tent rentals for the field or alternative reception sites. We have our own wedding coordinator that we require specifically for our property. Our guest house and our main house are available for rent for the bridal party over the entire weekend. The two houses are great for splitting up the bride and groom until the ceremony. Please message me for more details!
Our guests will have access to our property, pool and Internet.
Both rooms have queen beds. We have an air mattress we can also set up in the living room if needed.
The kitchenette has a stove, mini fridge, dishes/utensils and sink. Our washer and dryer are also available in the main house upon request and there is gym equipment in the garage.
We can be as involved or uninvolved as you need us to be! If you want to join us for dinner one evening let us know.
Madison County charges an additional 5% Occupancy Tax that is not listed in the original Air BnB total. We are still required by law to collect this payment with our guests. Please keep in my this additional fee when booking with Medellin Meadows. Hopefully soon Air BnB will add Virginia to their list of states that collect these fees up front.
We are open to doing private weddings on site and/or professional photography on the farm.
We ask that you treat our home as if it was your own.
No smoking indoors
Pets (even horses) allowed with prior approval- not allowed in courtyard.
Use of Wood fireplace upon approval only
Our home is situated in the middle of a 23 acre farm (currently being used for hay instead of livestock- but we do occasionally have cows). We have a pool in the back yard open from Memorial Day to Labor Day (sometimes a little later depending on the weather). There will not be any lifeguards on duty - please be careful and swim at your own risk. The pool is gated and safe for children playing outside. We ask that you do not go into the pool house without approval.
Jason and I welcomed our son Ryker into the world on November 6th 2015. We all love to travel, especially where the sun's hot and the drinks are cold. Jason likes outdoor sports, the more extreme/life risking/heart attack worthy, the better. I prefer relaxation and good company. We both work full-time jobs and recently bought this farm in Madison VA. Most of our time is spent doing DIY projects and remodeling parts of the house. Jason and I both work in Sales. We both are very happy with what we do and the life we share.
Jason is an artist on the side...but you wouldn't know from his work that he doesn't do it full time. He's INCREDIBLY talented - all of the artwork in the guesthouse is for sale. We have an amazing dog child named Buckwheat- our seven year old Boxer whom we spoil rotten daily.
To us life is about living in the moment and making the most out of our opportunities.
Five things we can't live without besides our boys:
Kari- Her Phone, Chapstick, Sunglasses, Good Wine and a Tan.
Jason- His Tools, Squat Rack, Old Video Games, A Gallon of Milk, and Land to Explore with Ryker.
