The River's Edge B & B LLC is setting on the edge of the scenic Illinois River, where wildlife, rafting, kayaking, hiking and fishing abound. Watch the sun rise over the mountain or tour the historic Cherokee stomping grounds. There's something for everyone! This partial house apartment includes 2 bedrooms which sleep 6 comfortably, but a roll-away is also available. Please message me if you are interested in only 1 room. I will offer a deal for less space.
There are 2 large downstairs bedrooms with a private garage entrance.
Room 1 is large and overlooks the river and has a comfy king bed, table and chairs and lovely library. Room 2 has a double and a queen and a table and chairs for work/eating. There are also tv's and movies available. The hot tub, grill, patio area are all available just outside the entrance in the back where the river view dominates.
Hot tub and private river views
Microwave, coffee pot and Keurig
Crock pot, small blender, toaster
Private yard space with glider swing, table and chairs and charcoal grill overlooking the beautiful Illinois River.
I am available, but do not wish to interfere in my guest's privacy or stay. A Continental breakfast will be available in the kitchenette.
For a nominal fee to cover time and gas, I would be happy to provide a guided tour of the area which includes Cherokee Tubs (bathtubs) a beautiful natural rock formation with crystal clear spring water running though it (see pics) or transportation to/from canoe/raft/kayak rental, serving as a DD. I do not have a bus or van so either I would lead you, you ride w me or I ride with you.
I also have available for a fee, arts and crafts projects (children or adults) such as a cedar engraved walking stick or tiny wooden canoe, wooden box, etc. to paint or decorate. I am also happy to provide a tour and access to community private beach which sets across from Goat's Bluff, one the most beautiful places on the river, and indeed, in Oklahoma. Please ask/inform me with a reasonable time-frame for doing it, preferably at booking.
The winding road to The River's Edge winds around Sparrow Hawk Mountain and is abundant with wildlife. Please be especially careful around dusk and dawn and watch for deer. The road is paved until you get to the top (where main photo was taken at 7:00 am), then goes to dirt. Once near the bottom, it is paved again and winds around to the Illinois River.
The house sets near the edge of a bluff so no young children or pets. You have a full-sized refrigerator as well as a microwave and Keurig, toaster, crockpot and small blender. Also, an electric skillet and 2 burner hot plate. This is partially set up in a converted garage with a patio table/bag chairs. One bedroom, with King-sized bed, has a library, tv and movies. You are welcome to read anything, but please leave on the bed-side table. The other bedroom has a small dining table, double, queen and tv with a lot of movies. Board games also available.
Enter via the garage to private apartment-like housing which is 2 large bedrooms, both overlooking the river, kitchenette and bath with 2 separate sinks. It is closed off from the rest of the property via a locked barn door.
Also, things to remember:
We are several miles from a store. Keep that in mind for shopping/food.
If floating--no glass or styrofoam, no tying rafts together, no alcoholic beverages over 3.2. Please take a trash bag with you and use it.
All land is owned by someone and they appreciate my guests staying within the confines of this property. There is 'No Trespassing' beyond the bluff or past my fenced-in garden. You are welcome to walk down the road or use any Public Access areas. If you don't know, ask. Additionally, please use hot tub as a hot tub and enter it with clean feet and body. It has to be drained if used otherwise because it becomes cloudy.
What to bring:
coverup-you probably will burn
snacks/beverages/paper plates and disposable items,
towel, not really necessary but some people like them. You dry so fast during the summer, river floaties.
No smoking indoors
Reasonable noise level
Treat hot tub as if your own and only clean feet.
Get prior ok for campfire to protect the environment.
No parties unless pre-approved and limited alcohol consumption.
Leave muddy shoes at door and hang towels to dry.
**There is a bluff behind house and it is private property below. No trespassing. Also no trespassing on any property other than roadway.
**Check out is promptly at 11:00.
**Breakfast will be Continental consisting of fruit, yogurt, cereal bars and other no -perishables. I was a special education teacher for sixteen years and now am a library media specialist. I bought this place in December knowing it was a total gut. There is fresh paint throughout, all new flooring, counter tops, faucets and fixtures. I spend my time reading, practicing learning guitar, working around the house and watching a little tv. I look forward to meeting new people and living life to the fullest.
