Location, location, location - perfectly located in the heart of Grasmere with many beautiful walks on the doorstep and close to shops, cafes and local pub. Private parking was great and loved the fully equipped kitchen and comfortable beds for 4. Shower was surprisingly powerful for the UK. Lots of DVDs and games for evenings in. Wifi was also very good. Top of stairs very dark at night so bring your cellphone torch to find the lock.
Just back from our stay at Rattle Stones, what a lovely apartment! Grasmere is peaceful and quiet in comparison to its neighbouring areas of Ambleside and Windermere. So having a quiet place with its own parking space close to the door, was a very welcome relief from the 'tourist heavy' towns in the area. The living/kitchen area is a good size, with enough room so you don't feel cramped. The furniture layout is perfect and there is a shoe rack by the radiator, in case of wet walking boots etc. There is a good size fridge and also a freezer, so plenty of space for food, wine, bags of ice, ice cream and other important holiday treats! The bathroom feels quite new and is perfectly clean, shower works well too. Similarly, the bedrooms are clean, comfortable and perfectly laid out, with lots of storage space. The view from the double room is gorgeous! There are plenty of towels and essential supplies (toilet/kitchen rolls, cleaning products). So you only need to bring your toiletries, tea, coffee, milk and food etc. There is a Co-op just a couple of mins walk away, which is open until 10pm, so we went there regularly. It also has a cash point, which was handy. There's a small number but good selection of shops in Grasmere, as well as places to eat and tea shops. Some people sat on the green opposite, when the weather was warm, so you could always take a cuppa (or a glass of something) over if you want somewhere with a little open space to sit out. Greens cafe downstairs serves a fabulous breakfast, which we could eat outside in the sunshine. We'd certainly recommend trying it! With plenty to see and do in the area and a really comfortable apartment to retire to, I'm sure I will be booking Rattle Stones again soon. I can't wait to return!
