Situated 7kms north of Greymouth in a small historic village. Coal Creek Falls is a 1 hour easy return walk in the village. Very close to Rapahoe Beach, Punakaiki, numerous walks, overnight tramps, bike trails, histotic sites, Lake Brunner and more.
The cottage has been updated inside (photos to come). A modern bathroom, new heat pump, new oven, carpeted etc. Runanga is a great example of a old west coast mining village. There are two take away/convenience stores, a school with swimming pool available for public use out of school hours, and the Runanga Working Mens Club is around the corner. Feel free to go to the club for a drink (limited meals available at the weekend), great free pool and billiard tables, and also home to the West Coast Wall of Sporting Fame. Please go to the bar and ask to be signed in (A requirement of registered NZ clubs). Runanga is also home to the historic, heritage listed Runanga Miners Hall, currently undergoing restoration.
The Coal Creek Falls is a beautiful, easy walk with stunning photo opportunities. Rapahoe Beach and the north end of the Pt Elizabeth walkway is 3kms north, just the spot for sunset viewing. Coal Creek Falls Cottage was my home for three years before my husband and I ran away and joined The Extravaganza( a travelling fair, 32 fairs around NZ from late sept (internet search for itinerary) until late April. My lovely neighbours Iona and Craig look after the property for me, and Zoe, their daughter is the cleaner. They wont be around unless you have an issue with the cottage. The space is all yours. Pets ( dogs) are very welcome. Plenty of off street parking.
I will not be around at all but my lovely neighbours will be available for any issues.
Please smoke outside and use the ashtray. Please clean up after your pet and if they are going to sleep on the bed or sit on the furniture please bring a blanket or similar to cover the seating. You are welcome to treat my home as yours but please respect my belongings. Thank you.
