The School Master's Cottage is beautiful Victorian cottage set on the edge of a open countryside.
Built in 1864, the cottage was originally the accommodation for the School Master, William Warren, and his family, and is annexed to the village school, now converted to The Old School House. Grade II listed and built from local stone in Tudor style, the cottage has lots of character and original features. The lounge and dining room have working fireplaces, and the two bedrooms have exposed beams. The master bedroom looks out onto the neighbouring orchard and open countryside. The second bedroom can be made up as a double bed, or as two singles, making the cottage ideal either for two couples sharing, or for a family with two children.
Outside there is a private courtyard, an elevated lawn with old apple trees, picnic table and barbecue, making this is the perfect setting for a relaxed break.
The School Master's Cottage is annexed to The Old School House, which is an entirely separate three bedroom cottage. Both properties may be let together to provide larger families or groups of friends as Churston Old School House.

We bought The Old School House and School Master’s Cottage on the 16th April 2014, exactly 150 years after the foundation stone was laid by Lady Churston. Although we currently live and work in London, Devon is "home". This is not an investment property, we intend to relocate here before too long, and meanwhile visit regularly. We love the house and the surrounding area, and the relaxed outdoor life. Our dog loves the variety of walks - and the pubs.
The house is run by our property manager Wendy, who lives locally.
The two cottages can be booked together as Churston Old School House.
