Private and cozy double room in the quiet and pleasant suburb of Acklam, Middlesbrough.
This room is suitable for a couple or a single business traveller featuring a comfortable double bed.
A second double bed may be negotiated, if required.
The bathroom (bath and shower - separate toilet) is shared if I'm home.
The price us set by Airbnb. So don't be put off by the price!
Your own space will be a private double room (second double bed in my office could be negotiated should you need another bed).
Thank you for taking the time to consider this listing, which is my home.
I travel and work away from home frequently, so your welcome to share my home with me if I'm home, or you may have it to yourself if I'm not around. If having the house to yourself is one of the boxes you need ticking, please ask.
As the house is my home, it represents me and my style. Your room will be clean and tidy but the rest of my home is lived in and not sterile and soulless. The house is still a work in progress in some aspects and areas (such as cracks in the bathroom ceiling - next job - and some chips and scratches here and there to paintwork), as I say lived in.
My home is cozy and tastefully decorated in a traditional style. Sorry there is no John Lewis furniture here and you won't find much of a foreign furniture store here either. The bed is comfortable, nice linen, pillows and and good blackout curtains to ensure a good nights sleep. I've include a kettle etc in the room, however this is my home and I'd rather you use the kitchen, but I recognise some people don't like to!
I'm being honest and please be realistic with your expectations for the price, don't expect boutique hotel, however my home is not a building site so don't worry!
As a frequent traveller for work, this listing may appeal to someone staying away a lot and who wants to find a reasonable homely place to rest their head, unwind and preferable to a soulless grey walled chain hotel.
Please note I don't make / provide breakfast due to my schedule, or working away, However basic provisions will be provided, tea, coffee, cereal etc. If nobody is here you may need your own bread and milk so you've got some fresh, but I'll let you know if that's the case.
Access to major roads, A19 and A66 are close by, and it is ten mins taxi ride to either Thornaby or Middlesbrough train stations. There is a bus route into town from the end of the road (5 mins walk) with regular bus services. James Cook University Hospital is 5 mins drive away as is Teesside University.
There is ample parking in the street outside the house and if I'm not here you can park on the drive.
You will have access to your bedroom and can also access the lounge, garden and kitchen for tea and coffee making facilities at your leisure. There is also a garage for those with bikes etc.
Bathroom will be shared if I'm home (shared option) or obviously for your sole use if I'm away.
You can use the kitchen for meal prep, but out of courtesy please just let me know if you wish to do so.
I work away a lot so you may have the house to yourself. If I'm home I will interact as much as you want / don't want.
If away I will arrange for your entry to the property, usually by key-safe on the day of arrival.
I have a home security system (camera in the living room which covers the hallway to protect my home when I'm not there). It is always disarmed / turned off when guests are present if I'm home. If I'm not home you can turn it off during your stay by contacting me once at the property, however it does need turning on again when you leave.
There is good signal on all major mobile networks.
Please no large downloads of movies on the wifi!
A second double bed may be negotiated in my office should you require more than one bed.
Strictly no smoking in the house please
Please respect noise levels and treat the space as my home, with care, consideration and no parties please.
I work for a national Charity dealing with an incurable terminal illness. Consequently work can be stressful as a result, involving lots of travelling and working on my own.
I rarely switch off and so when I do, I enjoy a really good break and being around other freindly people to destress.
The most important things to me are my bed and bath. Getting a good nights sleep keeps me going and finding somewhere to stay with a decent bed is surprisingly difficult sometimes.
Besides work I enjoy gardening, cyclying and am an organist.
